ONE DAY SEMINAR ON RTE<br />
One day seminar on Right to Education Act was held at Arepalayam Government Middle school near<br />

Sathiamangalam, Erode district. The seminar was held on 16 <strong>July</strong> 2011. Mr.Henri Tiphagne, State Representative<br />
for NCPCR facilitated the program. Mr.Chellapandi, IHRE coordinated the program. The meeting was jointly<br />
organized by NCPCR and IHRE.<br />

conducted on 12 and 13 <strong>July</strong> 2011. Mr. Henri Tiphagne,<br />
Special Representative of RTE in Tamil Nadu of the National<br />
Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) and<br />
IHRE Team members organised and participated in the<br />
program. The Government officials from the educational<br />
and other department officials participated in the program.<br />

Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) and IHRE<br />
Team members organised and participated in the program. The<br />
Government officials from the educational and other department<br />

Regional Consultation Meeting<br />
As per the National Commission for Protection Child Rights (NCPCR) recommendation the State Representative<br />
for RTE in Tamilnadu Mr.Henri Tiphagne Executive Director of <strong>People's</strong> Watch conducted regional<br />
consultation meetings for Nagapattinam, Tanjore, Thiruvarur, Hosur ,Cuddalore, Erode and Trichy Districts.<br />
This is the first time where the National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights had appointed a Nongovernmental<br />
organisation as a Special Representative.<br />
Since our main responsibility is to monitor the functioning of the RTE with particular reference to violence<br />
against children in schools, we gathered the civil society and particularly those who are engaged in the<br />
protection and promotion of the rights of the child in monitoring RTE 2009 in Tamil Nadu. Members of<br />
various organisations came forward and took the responsibility for monitoring the RTE Act in their nearby<br />
schools and they have also promised among themselves that they will elect representatives among them who<br />
will act accordingly. Some of the organisations joined hands with other such organisations to carry out the<br />
<strong>People's</strong> Watch
