Easter Parade<br />
Saturday March 30, <strong>2013</strong><br />
<strong>Volunteer</strong>s are required to walk the parade route in costume,<br />
and naturally, Easter bonnets! Representatives from each <strong>of</strong><br />
the different volunteer groups are required since we will be<br />
promoting volunteer opportunities.<br />

APRIL<br />
Orientation Training<br />
Saturday April 13, <strong>2013</strong><br />
(9:30 am to 12:00 pm)<br />
This workshop is mandatory for all new volunteers at the<br />
<strong>Pickering</strong> Museum Village and as a refresher every 2 years<br />
after. This workshop will provide an introduction to<br />
volunteering at the PMV policies & procedures, health &<br />
safety, and more will be covered this day. <strong>Volunteer</strong>s<br />
requiring this training have been assigned to available dates<br />
this year. Contact the Event & <strong>Volunteer</strong> Programmer by<br />
April 6, <strong>2013</strong> if you need to schedule a different date.<br />
MAY<br />
Accessibility Training<br />
Saturday May 4, <strong>2013</strong><br />
(9:00 am to 10:30 am)<br />
This training is mandatory once for ALL museum volunteers.<br />
Learn about accessible customer service standards and the<br />
ways PMV is accessible to visitors. <strong>Volunteer</strong>s requiring this<br />
training have been assigned to available dates this year.<br />

Fire Safety Training<br />
Saturday May 4, <strong>2013</strong><br />
(10:30 am to 12:00 pm)<br />
This training is mandatory for all new volunteers and as a<br />
refresher every 2 years. Learn how to use a fire extinguisher<br />
and about fire safety at the museum village. <strong>Volunteer</strong>s<br />
requiring this training have been assigned to available dates<br />

Turn Over Day<br />
Saturday May 4, <strong>2013</strong><br />
On this is the date, the Bloomers and Britches will turn over<br />
the museum village gardens to get ready for the growing<br />
season ahead. Many hands make light work! <strong>Volunteer</strong>s<br />
from all areas welcome.<br />
Mother’s Day Tea<br />
Sunday May 12, <strong>2013</strong><br />
(10:00 am to 4:00 pm)<br />
PMV will once again be hosting a Mother’s Day Tea in the<br />
Redman House. <strong>Volunteer</strong>s are required for set-up, serving,<br />
clean-up, and behind the scenes kitchen help.<br />
Techniques for Successful Interpretation<br />
Saturday May 25, <strong>2013</strong><br />
(9:30 am to 12:00 pm)<br />
This seminar is mandatory for all new adult volunteers (16<br />
years and older) who wish to volunteer as a costumed<br />
interpreter. This training focuses on communicating with and<br />
inspiring the museum visitor. Participants must read the<br />
historical interpretative notes in the <strong>Volunteer</strong> Handbook<br />
before attending. Interpretive exercises and an introduction<br />
to role-playing will be part <strong>of</strong> this session. <strong>Volunteer</strong>s<br />
requiring this training have been assigned to available dates<br />
