There are numerous local attractions in the area to satisfy your every desire. Ladies, you will want to bring your Christmas shopping money for that special gift you will surely find in one of the dozens of fine shops in the Historical Downtown Shopping District. We have selected some of what we consider to be the best attractions for your dining and entertainment pleasure. First, plan to arrive by mid-afternoon on Friday in order to have time for a pleasant world-class dining experience before you being shuttled off to the Ozark Mountain Hoe-Down Country Music Theatre for an evening of great Comedy and Musical entertainment. On Saturday, the available daytime activities will feature several popular attractions including, but not limited to, the multi-award-wining historic Thorncrown Chapel, the Historical Downtown Shopping District, the Turpentine Creek big cat and wildlife refuge, the Historic District Narrated Tram Tour, and the 1886 Crescent Hotel. For gun enthusiasts, don’t miss the C. Burton Saunders Memorial Museum in Berryville, which is only a few miles from the airport. Mr. Saunders was very wealthy and became friends with many of the elite of his time, amassing a fine collection of unusual and unique hand guns, artifacts, and various items which belonged to some of America’s most famous and not-so-famous heroes and desperados. Do not forget to bring warm clothing or a blanket for Saturday night (there is a Wal-Mart in Berryville, if you do forget). After another fine dinner at one of the local eateries (and if the weather cooperates), we will be attending The Great Passion Play. It is billed as America’s number-one attended outdoor drama. We will see the final show of the season and be entertained by a cast of hundreds who bring to life the awe-inspiring epic drama of Christ, and “The Greatest Story Ever Told.” It will be an unforgettable experience. Then, on Sunday morning, please do not plan to leave until after lunch. We will be taking everyone out to the War Eagle Mill, 25 miles south of town, for a wonderful breakfast and one last shopping experience for the ladies. War Eagle is the site of the largest craft show in America every mid-October. Fortunately, the 250,000 people who attend it will be gone by the time we are there. But, you will see the only waterpowered stone gristmill in operation in Arkansas and have the opportunity to purchase some of their all-natural products and other gift items at their General Mercantile Store. Assuming normal seasonal changes, you may also expect to see some of the most beautiful displays of color in America as the fall season arrives in Arkansas. You will see the Fall colors from the air as well, as in the many valleys and on hillsides as you tour the area by car. Many travel to this area in October for the colors alone.
