PCI Specification FHSW-2424NX English V1.0
The On-Board 24 Ports Support 10/100BASE-TX Auto-Negotiation
The FHSW-2424NX is equipped with twenty-four 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX Auto-Negotiation RJ-45
ports. The ports also support full duplex operation.
Supports 800Mbp High Speed Data Transfer
In cascade connections between ordinary switches, only up to 200Mbp (full duplex) of bandwidth can
be reserved. This limitation has been a serious bottleneck in networks requiring faster data throughput.
The FHSW-2424NX removes the limitation by providing 800Mbps of bandwidth via four cables directly
connected to the other switch ("Trunking"). In this manner, the switch significantly speeds up a switch
backbone. Unlike conventional switches that can be trunked to only a certain group of switches, the
FHSW-24224NX can be trunked to any switch as long as it supports 100BASE-TX. This feature eases
the addition of the FHSW-2424NX to an existing network.
Flexible Network Configuration
With traditional switches, changing an existing network configuration meant physical relocation of
Switch and purchase of additional (and very often expensive) switches. Since the FHSW-2424NX
supports VLAN, the administrator can easily change the current network configuration and maintain
network security without moving any device at all. The port-based VLAN scheme is easy to use - even
a novice administrator can set up VLAN groups with ease.
Fault Tolerant Design
Traditional switches cascade to another hub via one network cable. In this case, da ta communications
between the parties are easily lost whenever the cascade cable fails. On the other hand, the
FHSW-2424NX can link to another switch via two cables (Redundant Link). Should either cable fail,
the switch uses the remaining cable to sustain ongoing communications. You can count on the
FHSW-2424NX even when it's placed in a mission-critical network!
Speeds Up Your Switching Network
The Switch supports IEEE802.3x Flow Control at full duplex which prevents packet losses caused by
mismatches between the sending speeds and the receiving speeds (bandwidth). The end result is a
significantly more efficient network with a much higher throughput.
