Dr. Tareef Hayat Khan

Dr. Tareef Hayat Khan obtained his
Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) degree
from the Bangladesh University of
Engineering and Technology (BUET),
Dhaka, Bangladesh in 1995. He
obtained his Masters of Architecture
in Human Settlements (M.Arch) from the Catholic University of Leuven
(KULeuven), Belgium, in 2000, and completed his PhD in 2008 at the
Department of Architecture, The University of Hong Kong (HKU). In between
his studies, he was engaged in both academic and professional fields. He
joined the Department of Architecture at the Ahsanullah University of Science
and Technology (AUST). In Dhaka, Bangladesh he was a Lecturer in 1996
and became Assistant Professor in 2001. Besides his teaching career he is a
registered Architect in Bangladesh and continues professional practice as a
freelance Architect. He also obtained a Masters in Artificial Intelligence (MAI)
from KUL, Belgium in 2001.
On a personal level, Tareef is actively engaged in music and sports. He is
accomplished in two North Indian Style Classical instruments Tablaand
Sarod. He performed in different occasions and has disciples around the
world including Hong Kong. He is also an avid Cricketplayer and part of
the Bangladesh Cultural Centre Hong Kong (BCC-HK) Cricket team, playing
in the Social League in Hong Kong. He is also a keen Badminton player.
Dr. Khan showed his organizing skills both in Hong Kong and in Bangladesh
as the immediate President of the CIB Student Chapter of HKU, and was
convener of major events in AUST, Dhaka, including annual departmental
festivals and annual cultural programs during his stay.

朱 松 曄 博 士

Structural Engineering
Dr. Songye ZHU recently joined the
Department of Civil and Structural
Engineering (CSE) as an Assistant
Professor. He received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Structural Engineering
from Tongji University, Shanghai in 2000 and 2003 respectively, and his
Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering from Lehigh University, Bethlehem, USA
in 2008. His major research interests include smart material and structures,
structural health monitoring, multi-hazard mitigation and performancebased
design methodology. As one of his primary objectives, Dr. Zhu will
dedicate himself to promoting the development and application of advanced
technology in structural engineering via his research and teaching at PolyU.
