AIDS ASSISTANCE PROGRAM<br />

Historic o’Donnell House site of<br />

Dazzling inDepenDence Day Benefit<br />

palM springs – aiDs assistance program (aap) is hosting<br />

a spectacular independence Day celebration and fundraiser on<br />

friday, July 4, <strong>2014</strong> at the historic o’Donnell House, perched on<br />

the mountainside above the palm springs art Museum at 412 W.<br />

tahquitz canyon Way. the event begins at 7:<strong>30</strong> pm, and the city<br />

of palm springs’ fireworks display commences at 9:15 pm.<br />

“the o’Donnell House is the best spot in town to catch the city’s<br />

amazing fireworks display,” says Mark anton, executive Director<br />

of aap. “the breathtaking views from high above the desert floor<br />

will make for a truly special fourth of July celebration. thanks to<br />

the generosity of Dr. tracy conrad & Dr. paul Marut for making<br />

the landmark o’Donnell House available for our supporters to<br />

enjoy.”<br />

completed in 1925, the o’Donnell house has four bedrooms and<br />

six fireplaces and served as the winter home of oilman thomas<br />

o’Donnell and his wife, Dr. Winnifred Willis Jenny, a well-known<br />

long Beach osteopath. the Mediterranean revival-Monterey<br />

two-story residence remained the highest mountainside home in<br />

palm springs until the 1960s. it was added to the national register<br />

of Historic places in 2011.<br />

tickets for the independence Day celebration, which include<br />

cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and valet parking, are $100 per person<br />

and may be purchased at aidsassistance.org or by calling 760-<br />

since its founding in 1991, aiDs assistance program of palm<br />

springs remains dedicated to providing nutritional support to<br />

improve the quality of the lives of people living with HiV/aiDs.<br />

initiated by a small group of concerned citizens led by the late<br />

gloria greene and Jeannette rockefeller, aap provides food to<br />

members of the community with low incomes. for more information,<br />
