drawn primarily from the Book of Isaiah in the Old Testament.
For Christians, it is used in the Advent season, specifically on the
first two Sundays of Advent to set the tone of expectation for the
coming of the savior. In Judaism, it may also be used as a harbinger
of the savior yet to come, without the restriction of the Advent
season.
