The <strong>in</strong>-<strong>service</strong> tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g orig<strong>in</strong> from the Leonardo da V<strong>in</strong>ci project <strong>RETAIN</strong> -<br />
Retention <strong>in</strong> Education and Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g. The objective of the project was to look <strong>in</strong>to<br />
and further develop methods and models how to prevent young people from<br />
dropp<strong>in</strong>g out from education and tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g.<br />
So far there have been three tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g events. The first event took place <strong>in</strong> Reykjavik,<br />
Island, 3-8 October 2010, the second one <strong>in</strong> Bled, Slovenia, 15-20 May 2011 and the<br />
third one <strong>in</strong> Bled 22-27 April 2012. The participants, com<strong>in</strong>g from several different<br />
countries, have met and learned more about methods and models.<br />
Due to new regulations the tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g is no longer presented <strong>in</strong> the Comenius-<br />
Grundtvig data-based course catalogue BUT you can still apply for Comenius or<br />
Grundtvig fund<strong>in</strong>g to attend the tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g.<br />
The tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g is organised by the City of Gothenburg, Education Adm<strong>in</strong>istration,<br />
Sweden, <strong>in</strong> co-operation with project partners and placed <strong>in</strong> Bled, Slovenia.<br />

<strong>in</strong> Education and Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g. The objective of the project was to look <strong>in</strong>to and further develop<br />

tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g.<br />
The OBJECTIVES of the tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g is to give the participants’ tools and methods how to<br />
prevent students dropp<strong>in</strong>g out from education and tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g.<br />
The THEMATIC FIELD of the tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g is General In-Service Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g ( ma<strong>in</strong>ly focus<strong>in</strong>g on<br />
Career guidance and counsell<strong>in</strong>g, Combat<strong>in</strong>g failure <strong>in</strong> education, Inclusive approaches and<br />
Pedagogy and didactics) and the TARGET AUDIENCE for the tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g are:<br />
• Teachers (Pre-school, primary, secondary, vocational, adult, special needs)<br />
• Teacher tra<strong>in</strong>ers<br />
• Careers officers, educational guides and counsellors<br />
• Head teachers/pr<strong>in</strong>cipals/managers of schools/organisations offer<strong>in</strong>g adult education<br />
• Members of students/teachers councils <strong>in</strong> adult education<br />
• School counsellors, student support staff<br />
The LANGUAGE used dur<strong>in</strong>g the tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g will be English.<br />
CERTIFICATE of attendance <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g description of tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g content and time <strong>in</strong>put will<br />
be provided to the participants. For the preparation the participants are requested to study the<br />
support<strong>in</strong>g documents that will be provided on the projects website before the tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g:<br />

work shops, study visit, reflections and discussions.<br />

The PROGRAMME of the tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g activities (day by day)<br />
Day one, afternoon: Welcome - Introduction, aim of the tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g, programme and<br />
presentations. Get together.<br />
Day two, AM: Learn<strong>in</strong>g Styles - Introduction to Dunn & Dunn Learn<strong>in</strong>g Styles Model and<br />
test<strong>in</strong>g of tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g materials.<br />
Day two, PM: Coach<strong>in</strong>g Attitude - Introduction to the model of coach<strong>in</strong>g attitude <strong>in</strong> the class<br />
room, self <strong>in</strong>ventory, role-play, reflections and discussions (Part 1).<br />
Day three, AM: Coach<strong>in</strong>g Attitude - Introduction to the model of coach<strong>in</strong>g attitude <strong>in</strong> the<br />
class room, self <strong>in</strong>ventory, role-play, reflections and discussions (Part 2).<br />
Day three, PM: Vocational Mentor - Presentation of the model and discussions.<br />
Day four: Study visit.<br />
Day five, AM: We start with reflections from the study visit on day four and cont<strong>in</strong>ue with<br />
Personal Profile - Introduction to the <strong>in</strong>terview schema, role-play and discussions.<br />
Day five, PM: The WATCH Programme - Introduction to the group methodology and short<br />
practical tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> how to use the method (Part 1).<br />
Day six, AM: The WATCH Programme - Introduction to the group methodology and short<br />
practical tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> how to use the method (Part 2).<br />
Day six, PM: Good examples from other projects and participants' own experiences.<br />
Course evaluation and Wrap-up.<br />
