Superintendent Smith extended kudos to the staff at <strong>Yorba</strong> <strong>Linda</strong> Middle <strong>School</strong> for the exemplary<br />

presentation on Professional Learning Community (PLC), shared information regarding the 2007-2008<br />

Governor’s budget, and announced that Esperanza High <strong>School</strong> held a ribbon cutting ceremony for<br />

their renovated new pool.<br />

BOARD REPORT<br />

1. Mrs. Karin Freeman indicated that she attended the Education Forum extending<br />

appreciation to PYLUSD staff for their attendance and the attendance of El Camino<br />

students. Mrs. Freeman also attended the <strong>Placentia</strong> Council Meeting at which time they<br />

adopted a resolution entitled “Career Technical Education.”

2. Dr. Craig Olson expressed how valuable the Education Forum meeting was held on<br />

February 8th. Dr. Olson indicated that he attended the Superintendent’s Advisory Council<br />

meeting and shared information from his attendance at the California Association for Large<br />

Suburban <strong>School</strong> <strong>District</strong>s (CALSSD). Areas of focus included legislation regarding Autism,<br />

the Governors budget, declining enrollment, adequate studies and Adult Education<br />

Programs.<br />

3. Mrs. Judy Miller indicated how grateful she was to be at the Education Forum and that she<br />

also attended the PTA Council Founders Day dinner meeting. Mrs. Miller expressed that<br />

she would like to attend the Opportunities for Hispanic Student conference to be held in<br />

March.<br />

4. Mrs. Jan Wagner extended her thanks for the events that have been held district wide. Mrs.<br />

Wagner also expressed her enjoyment from her participation of being a judge for the<br />

<strong>Placentia</strong> Miss Teen held at the Valencia High <strong>School</strong> and commended the Valencia High<br />

<strong>School</strong> student quartet for their talent and poise.<br />
