Teacher Education Program (TEP)<br />

This is a preliminary application for students who intend to work toward a teaching license. All students<br />

must apply to the Wayland H. Cato, Jr., School <strong>of</strong> Education for admission to the teacher licensure program.<br />

To be <strong>of</strong>ficially admitted, a student must have:<br />

• positive recommendations by two <strong>Queens</strong> faculty members;<br />

• a completed self-assessment;<br />

• an overall grade point average <strong>of</strong> 2.500 after two semesters or four classes at <strong>Queens</strong> <strong>University</strong>;<br />

• satisfactory scores on the mathematics, reading and writing components <strong>of</strong> the (PPST or CBT)<br />

Praxis I Test or comparable SAT or ACT scores; and<br />

• approval <strong>of</strong> the Teacher Education Committee.<br />

A Pre-Elementary student may not take more than six <strong>of</strong> their pr<strong>of</strong>essional education (EDUC) courses<br />

before being <strong>of</strong>ficially admitted to the Teacher Education Program. Any Secondary Education<br />

student can only take two EDUC courses before getting admitted in to the TEP. Your completion <strong>of</strong> this<br />

preliminary application does not automatically qualify you for student teaching. A formal application for<br />

student teaching must be completed the semester prior to student teaching.<br />
