ADVICE AND HELPFUL ‘GO BETWEEN’…..
Visit York is the city’s official tourism body and has over 700 businesses in membership –
visitor attractions such as York Minster and the National Railway Museum, restaurants,
shops, hotels etc. The press office knows most ‘business’ venues in the city and can also
add additional advice for all visiting film crews on possible locations, best viewpoints
etc. Visit York’s press office can help with accommodation advice and bookings for
crews, is keen to work with publicists to promote productions and can for example help
recruit the general public where needed to take part in TV shows. If difficulties arise or
costs are a problem then Visit York can sometimes help act as a ‘go between’ to bring
about resolution and if a production is likely to bring about large benefits for tourism (eg
a feature film or TV Travel show which clearly shows York as the location) Visit York may
be able to assist on levering additional support or hosting crews etc.

The City of York Council and Visit York have signed a Film Friendly Charter in Partnership
with Screen Yorkshire to declare the York’s commitment to ensuring a first class service
for all visiting film crews and production companies.
