2010 Dream Catchers<br />

Scholarship Recipients<br />

Elementary <strong>School</strong> Recipients:<br />

Olivia Emert, Ballwin Elementary: Olivia has always wanted to be a writer, and this scholarship will allow her to<br />

pursue that dream by attending Suffield Academy. Olivia’s teacher reports she has a passion for writing and is<br />

driven to be an outstanding author.<br />

Matthew Lorentz, Blevins Elementary: Science, technology and space have long been Matthew’s passions.<br />

This Dream Catchers Scholarship will help Matthew pursue his dream by sending him to space camp in Huntsville,<br />

Alabama this summer.<br />

Myiah Hall, Chesterfield Elementary: The dream <strong>of</strong> Myiah is to be a veterinarian. She is inquisitive and loves to<br />

learn about science and animals. She will use her Dream Catchers Scholarship money to attend Camp KangaZoo<br />

at the St. Louis Zoo. It will teach her about animals and their habitat and provide her an opportunity to interact with<br />

others.<br />

Lexi Daniels, Ellisville Elementary: Lexi wants to learn about the ocean and the animals that live in it. Her<br />

dream is to teach others about the care and habitat <strong>of</strong> marine animals along with the importance <strong>of</strong> improving our<br />

environment. Lexi will attend the Sea World Ocean Explorer Camp, thanks to her Dream Catchers Scholarship.<br />

Hamza Iqbal, Ellisville Elementary: Creating robots for future space programs is a passion Hamza would like to<br />

explore by attending the Adventures in Programming camp at Washington University. He is strong in academics<br />

and has a passion for problem solving.<br />

Tim Palazzola, Green Pines Elementary: Tim is an inquisitive young man with a strong knowledge <strong>of</strong> computers<br />

and is always eager to help others with classroom computer issues. It is his dream is to attend ID Tech Camp at<br />

Washington University to focus on “Video Game Design and Creations.” At Tech Camp, he will get to modify<br />

current games for computers.<br />

Elizabeth Karpman, Kehrs Mill Elementary: Dancing, performing and singing along with being a stand-out<br />

student are a few <strong>of</strong> Elizabeth’s qualities. She has dedicated herself to spend several hours a week on rehearsals<br />

as well as performances. Her Dream Catchers Scholarship will enable her to train with pr<strong>of</strong>essional dancers and<br />

choreographers at the Alexandra Ballet.<br />

Connor Ouchi, Kehrs Mill Elementary: Connor has a natural ability for music and a tangible enthusiasm and<br />

interest in the guitar. His Dream Catchers Scholarship will allow him the opportunity to play the guitar with other<br />

musicians along with learning teamwork and cooperation skills at Camp Jam.<br />

Caroline Marie Bundschuh, Kellison Elementary: According to her teacher, Caroline has a strong work ethic<br />

and has set high goals for herself in ballet. Her Dream Catchers Scholarship will allow her exposure to guest<br />

teachers and ballet programs such as “The Royal Ballet in England,” while attending the summer intensive program<br />

at the St. Louis Ballet <strong>School</strong>.<br />

Brad Stewart, Stanton Elementary: Brad possesses intelligence, curiosity and is passionate about technology,<br />

according to his teacher. Attending “Adventures in Programming” camp through Washington University will help<br />

him catch his dream <strong>of</strong> learning computer applications.<br />

Diego Jasso, Wild Horse Elementary: According to his teacher, Diego distinguishes himself from others and is<br />

the type <strong>of</strong> person who does whatever hit takes to “get the job done.” Diego will use his Dream Catchers<br />

Scholarship to experience the <strong>Rockwood</strong> Great Smokey Mountain Adventure.

Middle <strong>School</strong> Recipients:<br />

Tony Chang, Crestview Middle: Tony dreams <strong>of</strong> being a designer and artist. Tony will catch his dream with a<br />

scholarship for drawing and painting classes at the Chesterfield Arts.<br />

Megan Hardie, Crestview Middle: Megan will use her Dream Catchers Scholarship money to attend a trip to the<br />

Florida Keys through the <strong>Rockwood</strong> Adventures Program. Megan dreams <strong>of</strong> having a career in marine biology, as<br />

well as an interest in being an author, illustrator, and avian biologist.<br />

Emma Hotze-Smith, Crestview Middle: Emma has been riding horses since she was five-years-old. Her Dream<br />

Catchers Scholarship will allow her to lease a horse for two months so that she can prepare for a summer<br />

horseback-riding competition.<br />

Adam Munich, Crestview Middle: Adam is using his Dream Catchers Scholarship to attend the NASA Space and<br />

Aviation Camp in Huntsville, Alabama. At camp, he will get to learn about the principles <strong>of</strong> flight, his greatest<br />

passion.<br />

Karen Zhu, Crestview Middle: Karen will take an online Algebra II class this summer with her Dream Catchers<br />

Scholarship. The course is called the Art <strong>of</strong> Problem Solving. Karen’s participation in the class will give her future<br />

opportunities to compete in additional high-level math competitions.<br />

Michael Huang, LaSalle Springs Middle: Michael dreams <strong>of</strong> being a member <strong>of</strong> the St. Louis Symphony Youth<br />

Orchestra. Michael, a violinist, will get to attend the New York Summer Music Festival two-week camp with his<br />

Dream Catchers Scholarship.<br />

Jacob Hughes, LaSalle Springs Middle: Jacob is using his Dream Catchers Scholarship to attend the Joseph<br />

Baldwin Academy for Eminent Young Scholars at Truman State University. Jacob qualified for this unique<br />

opportunity by scoring in the 99 th percentile on the MAP test.<br />

Benjamin Lorentz, LaSalle Springs Middle: Benjamin will explore the wonders <strong>of</strong> the Grand Teton Mountain<br />

Range through the <strong>Rockwood</strong> Science Program trip with his Dream Catchers Scholarship money.<br />

Ben Webb, LaSalle Springs Middle: Ben is using his Dream Catchers Scholarship to attend Camp Jam as a<br />

Counselor in Training (CIT). As a counselor, Ben will get to work with rock bands on their songs and help with oneon-one<br />

and group music instruction.<br />

Sidarth Iyer, <strong>Rockwood</strong> South Middle: Sidarth will attend the Boy Scouts <strong>of</strong> America National Jamboree in<br />

Virginia with his Dream Catchers Scholarship money.<br />

Mary Thaier, <strong>Rockwood</strong> South Middle: Mary will catch her dream when she travels to Quebec with her French<br />

class this summer. While on the trip, she will learn about the Canadian-French culture and have the chance to<br />

strengthen her French-speaking skills.<br />

Michael Mertle, <strong>Rockwood</strong> Valley Middle: Michael will use his Dream Catchers Scholarship to learn about<br />

marine biology while he attends the <strong>Rockwood</strong> Marine Science Adventure trip.<br />

Linnea Anne Narducci, <strong>Rockwood</strong> Valley Middle: Linnea will attend the Junior National Young Leaders<br />

conference in Washington D.C. with her Dream Catchers Scholarship.<br />

Keena Patel, <strong>Rockwood</strong> Valley Middle: Keena will catch her dream by opening a nonpr<strong>of</strong>it business with her<br />

Dream Catchers Scholarship. She will <strong>of</strong>fer free tutoring to underprivileged students, using her scholarship money<br />

to purchase the necessary school supplies.

Akhil Pulumati, <strong>Rockwood</strong> Valley Middle: Using his Dream Catchers Scholarship money, Akhil will attend the<br />

<strong>Rockwood</strong> Grand Teton Adventure at Yellowstone Park. He looks forward to hiking and floating down the Snake<br />

River.<br />

Hannah Bullington, Selvidge Middle: Hannah will catch her dream when she attends the <strong>Rockwood</strong> Grand<br />

Teton Adventure at Yellowstone Park. She looks forward to enjoying the hikes and learning about mountain<br />

wildlife.<br />

Rachel Bullington, Selvidge Middle: Rachel will use her Dream Catchers Scholarship to attend the Grant Teton<br />

Adventure at Yellowstone Park. While on the trip, Rachel wants to learn more about Old Faithful and Steamboat<br />

geysers, and promises to tell all her friends about her experience.<br />

Brenden Giblin, Selvidge Middle: Brenden has had a strong interest in astronomy and physics since he was five<br />

years old. He will catch his dream by attending the “Beginning Teen Astronomy Camp” at the University <strong>of</strong> Arizona.<br />

Grayson Kelmer, Selvidge Middle: Grayson will attend the Grand Teton Yellowstone Adventure with her Dream<br />

Catchers Scholarship money. She looks forward to discovering new creatures and plants in nature.<br />

Tucker Osman, Selvidge Middle: Tucker will attend the Joseph Baldwin Academy at Truman University with his<br />

Dream Catchers Scholarship. He will take the course titled “The Art and Science <strong>of</strong> Computer Programming.”<br />

Kyle Edwards, Wildwood Middle: Kyle will use his Dream Catchers Scholarship to attend the Grand Teton<br />

Yellowstone Adventure. He will use what he learns on the trip to get actively involved in preserving the natural<br />

resources <strong>of</strong> his community.<br />

Rachel Forsythe, Wildwood Middle: Rachel will attend the Fazio’s Rock Academy Summer Camp with her<br />

Dream Catchers Scholarship. After years <strong>of</strong> playing the violin and cello, Rachel will catch her dream working on<br />

songwriting and performing skills with her electric guitar at Rock Camp.<br />

Katriella Lumbantobing, Wildwood Middle: Katriella will have the opportunity to catch her dream taking the<br />

Bioimaging course at the University <strong>of</strong> Illinois at Urbana-Champaign this fall. She will get to experience how<br />

environmental changes affect plants, and learn about human health through imaging.<br />

Jon McCoy, Wildwood Middle: It is Jon’s dream that all people throughout the world have clean water. Jon will<br />

use his scholarship money to campaign and raise funds for Living Water International so they can drill clean water<br />

for those in need.<br />

Morgan Niezing, Wildwood Middle: Morgan will catch her dream when she attends the Coastal Ecology Camp in<br />

Galveston, Texas. Morgan will learn about career opportunities in marine biology.<br />

Sydney Ridinger, Wildwood Middle: Sydney will attend the Grand Teton Yellowstone Adventure with her Dream<br />

Catchers Scholarship. Sydney loves science and wilderness, and looks forward to this amazing experience.<br />

Jason Salamone, Wildwood Middle: Jason dreams <strong>of</strong> playing drums in the high school marching band. He will<br />

use his scholarship money for summer percussion lessons.

High <strong>School</strong> Recipients:<br />

James Huang, Eureka High: The Dream Catchers Scholarship will help James in his pursuit <strong>of</strong> becoming a<br />

doctor. At the National Young Leader’s Forum on Medicine, he will learn the requirements for the medical field.<br />

His teacher states he is a quick thinker and easily grasps fundamentals <strong>of</strong> any skill or concept being taught.<br />

David Armstrong, Lafayette High: David’s teacher states he has the ability to show empathy and consideration<br />

for the views <strong>of</strong> others. He will use his Dream Catchers Scholarship by helping the World Chargers Youth Group<br />

build and repair homes for underprivileged families in Puerto Rico.<br />

Keeley Arnold, Lafayette High: Keeley has a passion and dedication for exploring art. She helped create the<br />

cover for Lafayette’s literary magazine and participated in many art shows. Her greatest dream is to write “manga”,<br />

a form <strong>of</strong> Japanese comics. To help her realize her dreams, this scholarship will send her to the Summer Institute<br />

at the <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> Art in Chicago.<br />

Katelyn Burgess, Lafayette High: Katelyn was recommended and accepted to participate as a student leader in<br />

the People to People Student Ambassador Program traveling to China this summer. She will be staying with a host<br />

family, learning skills in Chinese cooking, and more. Her dream is to travel to China as a Student Ambassador for<br />

the United States.<br />

LeAnna Cates, Lafayette High: LeAnna’s dream is to become a medical doctor. She is a leader and goes above<br />

and beyond with assignments, according to her teacher. LeAnna will attend the National Youth Leadership Forum<br />

on Medicine, which will provide an insight for her in the medical field.<br />

Kristen Michelle Trout, Lafayette High: According to Kristen’s teacher, she has a special quality that illuminates<br />

every aspect <strong>of</strong> her academic, athletic, communal and social life. Her dream is to attend the Annual Conference at<br />

Gettysburg College, as she has a love for American History.<br />

Madison Ginsberg, Marquette High: Madison’s dream is to direct and produce films. Her teachers say she is<br />

creative, cooperative and disciplined. Being able to attend the National High <strong>School</strong> Institute (Film Division) at<br />

Northwestern University will help her achieve her goal.<br />

Joy Ciskowski, <strong>Rockwood</strong> Summit High: Joy is currently researching the neurological affects <strong>of</strong> Anorexia<br />

Nervosa through Washington University. She is a student in the Authentic Science Research program. Her dream<br />

is to be able to make a difference in the lives <strong>of</strong> others. This scholarship will allow her to expand her research and<br />

better understand Anorexia Nervosa.<br />

Jordan Thomas, <strong>Rockwood</strong> Summit High: According to her teacher, Jordan is articulate, intelligent, goal<br />

oriented and a model student who strives for excellence. Her dream is to become an engineer. Jordan will use her<br />

scholarship to attend the Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering camp at the University <strong>of</strong> Illinois. She will<br />

have the opportunity to engage in planning and building projects prepared by the College <strong>of</strong> Engineering.<br />

Elyse Bertani, <strong>Rockwood</strong> Summit High: Elyse loves to perform and has been taking private piano and voice<br />

lessons for nearly six years. According to her teacher, Elyse excels in the areas <strong>of</strong> acting, singing and dancing. It<br />

is her dream to attend the Missouri Fine Arts Academy to further expand her knowledge <strong>of</strong> performing arts this<br />

summer.
