Student life in the Sixth Form
Sixth Form Students
With increased independence also comes responsibility and the expectations we have of Sixth Form
students are:
Attendance on a full time basis.
Development of good study habits
Development of leadership qualities
High standards of behaviour
Responsible use of the common room and private study areas
Signing of the ‘Sixth Form Agreement’
Each student will be allocated a ‘Form Tutor’ who will act as a mentor, help with any academic or social
issues and assist in the university application process.
Private Study
One major difference in the Sixth Form is that private study periods are scheduled during the week.
Students generally use this time for reading and researching materials related to the subjects they
are studying, completing homework and furthering their knowledge and understanding of their
chosen topics. This time may also be used for community service or preparation of university
applications. Students are provided with enrichment reading materials, wireless internet access and one
of the best architectural locations in the school for private study. Productive use of these study periods
requires self discipline and good organisation. These are useful skills to have when studying at the
undergraduate level.
Home, School Student Agreement
Students are required to sign a sign a post sixteen agreement called the Home, School, Student
Agreement. A copy of this agreement is included in this prospectus.
