One of the challenging part of the
line to construct was Mandi House on
Line 3. Mandi House Station is located
under Sikandra Road, a busy and thriving
thoroughfare in the city. Much of
the station had to be built top-down.
The diaphragm wall panels built from
the ground level formed the permanent
walls of the station.
Phase II
DMRC had set itself a target to complete
the Phase II lines, which will add
another 121 km to the new network, by
2010 to coincide with Delhi’s hosting
of the Commonwealth Games. In October
2007, DMRC awarded Bombardier
Transportation a $43 m contract for
the design, manufacture, supply, installation
and testing of signalling equipment
and rolling stock order and E &
C activities are proceeding as expected.
DMRC had, as recently as September
2008, said the overall progress of Phase-
II project is 8.96%, since its inception.
