ACHIEVEMENT OF RESEARCH
Ph. D:
Very low level of proteasome activity was found in rpt6-1 yeast mutant.
Subunit composition pattern of 20S proteasome in rpt6-1 mutant was different to that of wild-type
counterpart.
Two subunits of proteasome in rpt6-1, α1 & α7, showed slow mobility and different isoelectric
focusing in 2-DE compared to that of wild type.
The changes on α1, α7 were not a consequence of phosphorylation.
The changes on α1, α7 were disappeared when culture temperature had been shifted to restrictive
temperature.
A precursor form of α1, α7 regulate the proteasome channel in absence of Rpt6 ATPase.
M. Pharm.:
Two antimicrobial compounds were isolated. One of which is di- (2-ethyl hexyl) phalate and another
one had not been identified due to its poor amount.
All the compounds showed moderate to strong antimicrobial activities.
Biochemical parameters were normal on subacute toxicity studies on rats with the isolated
compounds.
