Vocational selective<br />
The purpose <strong>of</strong> the “metro” selective is to give ERC<br />
students an opportunity to have an experience within<br />
the metropolitan Melbourne system as an “option”<br />
if they have a special interest, or want to experience<br />
a particular hospital. It might also be thought <strong>of</strong> as a<br />
(metro) selective. In general, it will have to be in a<br />
non-core area for capacity reasons.<br />
It takes advantage <strong>of</strong> the 5-week “gap” that occurs<br />
since students have already completed GP.<br />
There is no requirement that it be at a metropolitan<br />
site per se, but it must be in the Melbourne Medical<br />
<strong>School</strong> system and thus is not an “elective”.<br />
