Is Seeking a Medical Director <strong>for</strong> Airlift Northwest<br />

<strong>The</strong> University of Washington (UW) School of Medicine (SoM), Division of Emergency<br />

Medicine (EM) is seeking a Medical Director <strong>for</strong> Airlift Northwest (ALNW), a premier air<br />

medical transport service. ALNW is part of UW Medicine and is the Northwest region’s<br />

busiest air medical service, responding from one of 5 bases located strategically<br />

throughout the Pacific Northwest. Helicopters are based in Bellingham, Arlington, Seattle<br />

and Olympia, WA. <strong>The</strong>re are also fixed-wing aircrafts based in Juneau, AK and Seattle,<br />

WA. ALNW per<strong>for</strong>ms 2500 helicopter and 1000 fixed-wing transports annually.<br />

Candidates must be BE/BC in EM and be academically oriented with experience preferred<br />

in EMS and/or air medical transport. <strong>The</strong> candidate must be an excellent teacher as<br />

he/she will be responsible <strong>for</strong> the education and training of the ALNW crews and an<br />

integral part of the developing UW EM Residency program.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Medical Director will provide medical leadership and oversight of all care, will be<br />

responsible <strong>for</strong> the development and implementation of the training program <strong>for</strong> ALNW<br />

personnel, the QA/QI program, and will be involved in the financial and strategic planning<br />

<strong>for</strong> the program. This position is responsible <strong>for</strong> training the UW EM residents in the<br />

principles of air medical transport, and will have an appointment in the UW Division of<br />

Emergency Medicine and work clinically at Harborview Medical Center ED, which is the<br />

only Level I Trauma Center <strong>for</strong> a 4-state region and sees 65,000 patients per year, and the<br />

UW Medical Center ED, which sees 26,000 patients per year.<br />

<strong>The</strong> UW SoM is a regional resource <strong>for</strong> WA, WY, AK, MT, and ID - the WWAMI states, and<br />

is recognized <strong>for</strong> its excellence in clinical training, its world-class research initiatives, and<br />

its commitment to community service.<br />

Medicine seeks a Health Sciences Clinical Instructor.<br />

This is an ongoing recruitment. University of Cali<strong>for</strong>nia, Irvine is<br />

a Level I Trauma center with 2200 runs/year, 40,000 ED census.<br />

<strong>Academic</strong> department with Division of Emergency Ultrasound<br />

since 2001. Director is fellowship trained and RDMS certified.<br />

Three other faculty are RDMS. Outside resident and med student<br />

emergency Ultrasound rotation established. Research, teaching<br />

and clinical environment. Clinical schedule of eight 10-hour<br />

shifts per month. Salary commensurate with level of clinical work.<br />

1200 scans/year anticipated along with tape review of 4000 more.<br />

RDMS certification expected upon completion of the fellowship.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Department of Emergency Medicine at UC San Francisco is seeking an outstanding individual <strong>for</strong> one of the key leadership<br />

position in the Division of Emergency Medicine at San Francisco General Hospital. <strong>The</strong> successful candidate will have exceptional<br />

administrative and organizational skills and a proven record of successful per<strong>for</strong>mance as a leader in the areas of patient care, Quality<br />

Assurance and Per<strong>for</strong>mance Improvement, and care delivery in an academic emergency medicine environment. <strong>The</strong> successful candidate<br />

will serve as Medical Director and Director of Per<strong>for</strong>mance Improvement at San Francisco General Hospital and will have major<br />

responsibilities in organizing the clinical service, providing medical direction, innovating new models of care delivery, and overseeing the<br />

Per<strong>for</strong>mance Improvement activities of the Department.<br />

San Francisco General Hospital is fully affiliated with UCSF, and is the sole Level 1 designated Trauma Center <strong>for</strong> San Francisco<br />

and Northern San Mateo counties with an annual volume of approximately 60,000 emergency department visits. Over 250 students and<br />

residents, including Emergency Medicine residents from two programs, are trained in the Emergency Department annually. <strong>The</strong> position<br />

carries an appointment to the UCSF faculty at a level and series commensurate with the candidate’s academic qualifications. Excellent<br />
