University of Washington, School of Medicine Division of Emergency Medicine Is Seeking a Medical Director for Airlift Northwest The University of Washington (UW) School of Medicine (SoM), Division of Emergency Medicine (EM) is seeking a Medical Director for Airlift Northwest (ALNW), a premier air medical transport service. ALNW is part of UW Medicine and is the Northwest region’s busiest air medical service, responding from one of 5 bases located strategically throughout the Pacific Northwest. Helicopters are based in Bellingham, Arlington, Seattle and Olympia, WA. There are also fixed-wing aircrafts based in Juneau, AK and Seattle, WA. ALNW performs 2500 helicopter and 1000 fixed-wing transports annually. Candidates must be BE/BC in EM and be academically oriented with experience preferred in EMS and/or air medical transport. The candidate must be an excellent teacher as he/she will be responsible for the education and training of the ALNW crews and an integral part of the developing UW EM Residency program. The Medical Director will provide medical leadership and oversight of all care, will be responsible for the development and implementation of the training program for ALNW personnel, the QA/QI program, and will be involved in the financial and strategic planning for the program. This position is responsible for training the UW EM residents in the principles of air medical transport, and will have an appointment in the UW Division of Emergency Medicine and work clinically at Harborview Medical Center ED, which is the only Level I Trauma Center for a 4-state region and sees 65,000 patients per year, and the UW Medical Center ED, which sees 26,000 patients per year. DEPARTMENT OF EMERGENCY MEDICINE MASSACHUSETTS GENERAL HOSPITAL A Major Teaching Affiliate of Harvard Medical School The Department of Emergency Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital is seeking candidates for faculty positions at all academic levels. Special consideration will be given to those with an established track record in clinical or laboratory research and a commitment to excellence in clinical care and teaching. Academic appointment is at Harvard Medical School and is commensurate with scholarly achievements. MGH is co-sponsor of the 4-year BWH/MGH Harvard Affiliated Emergency Medicine Residency Program. The ED at MGH is a high volume, high acuity level 1 trauma and burn center for both adult and pediatric patients, and includes a 14-bed Observation Unit. The annual ED visit volume is ~91,000.
