Measures and Criteria
• Decrease student-to-faculty ratio from 19 to 17
• Ensure more than 50 percent of all credit hours in each major are taught by full-time faculty
• Increase the number of full-time faculty
• Ensure more than 25 percent of credit hours in each major taught by faculty with the highest
terminal degree
• Increase the number of full-time faculty total and in each college
• Increase the number of tenure-track/tenured full-time faculty total and in each college
• Monitor the number of nontenure-track faculty who are full-time or part-time total and in each
college
• Increase the number of tenure-track/tenured faculty with the highest terminal degree
• Monitor the number of nontenure-track faculty with highest terminal degree
2. Focus on improving student quality while providing access
n Increase freshman class average SAT scores to 1220 within five years
n Optimize the number of students per class in the Honors College and the number of students per
class for the Capstone Scholars Program
n Increase the diversity of Honors College students and Capstone Scholars through targeted
recruiting efforts
n Provide access for students through the USC Bridge Program and the regional campuses
