Funded by a grant from the Robert<br />

Schalkenbach Foundation, the Henry<br />

George Lecture Series is the pre-eminent<br />

public lecture series in economics in<br />

northeastern Pennsylvania.<br />

In addition, Dr. Romer addressed “How<br />

Does an Economy Create Value? Can it<br />

Keep Doing So Fo re ver?” at the Un i ve r s i t y’s<br />

Pre s i d e n t’s Breakfast, also on Nov. 5.<br />

Holocaust Conference<br />

and Forum Held<br />

<strong>The</strong> Holocaust Education Resource<br />

Center and the <strong>University</strong> presented<br />

“Recollections <strong>of</strong> War: Victims and the<br />

Law, A Community Conference and<br />

Forum,” on Nov. 10 and 11 in the<br />

Houlihan-McLean Center on campus.<br />

<strong>The</strong> forum began with the Annual Fa l l<br />

L e c t u re <strong>of</strong> the Un i ve r s i t y’s We i n b e r g<br />

Judaic Studies Institute. <strong>The</strong> feature d<br />

speaker was Joshua M. Greene, who cop<br />

roduced and co-directed the award - w i n-<br />

ning film “Witness: Voices from the<br />

Holocaust.” <strong>The</strong> film, which was scre e n e d<br />

as part <strong>of</strong> the lecture, gives a distinct pers<br />

p e c t i ve <strong>of</strong> the Holocaust as told thro u g h<br />

i n t e rv i ews with Holocaust surv i vo r s .<br />

R e g u l a t o ry Changes Discussed at Symposium<br />

Panelists examined the effectiveness <strong>of</strong> current legislation in restoring public confidence<br />

in corporate governance at the second annual Accounting Symposium on Corporate<br />

Governance, sponsored by the Un i ve r s i t y’s Kania School <strong>of</strong> Management and the cert i f i e d<br />

public accounting firm <strong>of</strong> Pa rente Randolph, PC.<br />

on Mr. Greene’s newly released book,<br />

Justice at Dachau, was held Nov. 11. <strong>The</strong><br />

book explores the Dachau trials, a relatively<br />

unknown series <strong>of</strong> court proceedings<br />

held for war crimes <strong>of</strong> the Holocaust.<br />
