Thomas P. Smith, Ps y. D., has been<br />

named Di rector <strong>of</strong> the Un i ve r s i t y’s<br />

Counseling Center. Dr. Smith has been a<br />

clinical psychologist at the center since<br />

August 1989. Prior to his service at the<br />

Un i ve r s i t y, Dr. Smith had worked in va r i o u s<br />

inpatient and outpatient psychiatric settings.<br />

Debra Busacco, Ph.D., has been<br />

named the Director <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong>’s<br />

new Center for Teaching and Learning<br />

Excellence (CTLE). Most recently, Dr.<br />

Busacco served as Director <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Academic Affairs Unit <strong>of</strong> the American<br />

Speech-Language-Hearing Association<br />

(ASHA) in Rockville, Md.<br />

Michele E. Davis ’77 has been<br />

appointed the Director <strong>of</strong> the Center for<br />

Continuing Education at the <strong>University</strong>.<br />

Ms. Davis comes to the <strong>University</strong> from<br />

Penn State Worthington Campus, where<br />

she served as director <strong>of</strong> Continuing<br />

Education since 1998. She was previously<br />

employed in the <strong>University</strong>’s Small<br />

Business Development Center.<br />

at Fall Convocation<br />

Four faculty members were honored<br />

at the <strong>University</strong>’s Fall Convocation on<br />

Sept. 5.<br />

Ma ry Elizabeth (Betsey) Moylan ’90,<br />

Re f e rence Librarian at the Un i ve r s i t y’s<br />

Weinberg Memorial Library, was award e d<br />

the 5th annual John L. Earl III Aw a rd for<br />

s e rvice to the Un i ve r s i t y, the faculty, and<br />

the wider community. <strong>The</strong> award is give n<br />

in the spirit <strong>of</strong> generosity and dedication<br />

that Dr. John Earl, a distinguished pro f e s-<br />

sor <strong>of</strong> history, exemplified during his ye a r s<br />

at the Un i versity from 1964 to 1996.<br />
