Congratulations On Your Admission! REQUIRED STEPS FOR ALL NEW STUDENTS AT SF STATE Login to the SF State Gateway at gateway.sfsu.edu and follow these steps on the New Student Requirements Checklist: ¨ Accept Admission Offer Deadline: May 1, 2013 If you plan to attend SF State in Fall 2013, you must accept your admission offer online March 1 - May 1. Students admitted after May 1 have two weeks from their admission date to accept their offer. ¨ Pay Enrollment Deposit Deadline: May 1, 2013 A $100 enrollment deposit is required when you accept your admission offer. The deposit will apply toward your Fall 2013 tuition fees. ¨ Set Up an SF State E-mail Account Students are required to select an SF State e-mail account before they can complete the rest of their New Student Requirements. SF State uses this address to send you crucial e-mails and alert you to key dates and deadlines while you are a student. Once you have set up your SF State e-mail, you can forward messages to a personal e-mail address if you choose. ¨ Sign Up for English (EPT) and Mathematics (ELM) Placement Tests Check your test score status to see if you need to take the EPT and/or ELM test. SF State strongly urges all non-exempt students to test early, in February or March. Students who do not take the final test on or before May 4 will not be able to attend SF State. Be sure to list SF State as the campus to receive your scores. ¨ Sign up for Early Start Math Course in Summer Students who score below 50 on the ELM placement test are required to complete an Early Start summer course. ¨ Sign Up for Directed Self Placement (DSP) Students who score 146 and below on the EPT are required to participate in the SF State Directed Self Placement (DSP) online survey in the summer. DSP will also meet the Early Start requirement for English. ¨ Sign Up for New Student Orientation and Register for Fall Classes Students receive early advising and early course registration at orientation. Space in orientation sessions and fall classes is limited and available first come, first served. Orientation dates are offered on campus plus some dates in Southern California. Sign up for orientation starting on March 1 after you accept your offer of admission. ¨ Submit Proof of Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) and Hepatitis B (HEP-B) Immunization All students must fulfill immunization requirements before they can register for classes. ¨ Send Final Transcripts Deadline: July 15, 2013 Send to: Undergraduate Admissions San Francisco State University 1600 Holloway Ave. San Francisco, CA 94132 CHECK www.sfsu.edu/admit FOR A COMPLETE LIST OF REQUIRED DOCUMENTS.
Other Important Reminders Attend Sneak Preview: Saturday, April 13, 2013 Plan to attend Sneak Preview to learn more about academic and campus services at SF State and check on the status of your housing application. For more information, go to www.sfsu.edu/outreach Apply Early for Housing On-campus housing is in high demand and is not guaranteed. You must apply for housing separately from your application for admission. Be sure to apply for housing before January 30, 2013 for the fall semester. Go to www.sfsu.edu/~housing Apply for Financial Aid: Priority Filing Deadline March 2, 2013 To receive financial aid, you must fill out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and list SF State’s federal school code: 001154. You are strongly encouraged to complete your FAFSA online at www.fafsa.ed.gov Do not wait until you or your parents have filed tax returns. The Financial Aid office will notify you about your financial aid award by e-mail. International students are required to attend the International Student and Scholar Orientation during August 2013. More information can be found at the Office of International Programs website: www.sfsu.edu/~oip/orient.htm CLASS REGISTRATION How do I register for classes? Freshmen receive early priority registration for all of their units on their orientation date. Transfer students receive early priority registration for a maximum of 8 units at orientation. The earlier you attend orientation, the better choice of classes you will have. How do transfers register for additional units? Transfers may add additional units during your Final Priority Registration time in August. View your registration date/time by logging into the SF State Gateway (gateway.sfsu. edu), then navigate to "Schedule/ Classes" under "Student." How do I find out what classes are being offered? The Fall 2013 Class Schedule is printed for all orientation attendees as well as online: www.sfsu.edu/schedule The University Bulletin publishes all course descriptions and graduation requirements online: www.sfsu.edu/~bulletin How do I pay Tuition Fees? Tuition Fees must be paid in full before you can register for classes at orientation, unless you have a Financial Aid deferment. Complete fee payment information is available at the Bursar’s Office online at: www.sfsu.edu/~bursar ENROLLMENT DEPOSIT What is the enrollment deposit? Freshman and transfer students must pay a non-refundable enrollment deposit of $100 when they accept their admission offer. The deposit is required to reserve a space at SF State. The admission acceptance and enrollment deposit must be received by May 1. The deposit will offset a portion of your Tuition Fees for the first semester. This is a one-time payment required only during the first semester of admission. Can the enrollment deposit be waived? The enrollment confirmation deposit will be waived for students receiving state or federal need-based grants. Your New Student Requirements Checklist will indicate if you qualify for the waiver.
