Dante students produce EMSB 10 th anniversary theme song
The EMSB has a new on-hold
message on its telephone system,
the official 10 th anniversary
bilingual song recorded by the
choir of Dante Elementary School
in St. Léonard.
“Maria’s passion for children,
music and technology inspired her
to compose and write many other
songs throughout the years,” said
Dante Principal Alice Buchanan.
“She has also composed the
Dante School theme song, our
kinder garten graduations and
our winter holiday song ‘C’est le
temps d’hiver.’”
The English version of the
EMSB 10 th anniversary song was
first written in May 2008. A
bilingual version was created in
December. The recording session
took place at Laurier Macdonald
High School in St. Léonard in
January, with 40 children aged nine
to eleven. The choir has held many
concerts and appeared at numerous
festivals and events. Its repertoire
is a combination of classical, folk,
modern and original compositions
and compilations created by Ms.
Alongi. Ms. Alongi wishes to
thank Sara Iatauro and Eddy
Hong of the EMSB and Alan
Taylor of Laurier Macdonald for
their technical support and Ms.
Buchanan, Assistant Director of
Pedagogical Services and former
school principal Roma Medwid
and Vice-Principal Ida Pisano
“for believing in me and support -
ing and encouraging my ideas
and creativity.”
