PRINCIPALS REPORT
STUDENT WELFARE
We will be rewarding those students who have been consistent in expected behaviours with a special treat.
Your child’s teacher will be more than happy to discuss with you aspects of the rainbow reward system and
how it seeks to reward expected behaviours. For those students who find it difficult to operate within school
expectations we have a series of consequences:
Children who are on any level of the discipline code will not participate in out of school activities for the
duration of the level.
All exclusions must be notified to and ratified by the Principal.
In addition,
Any child who has been on level three or suspended during the term will not be able to participate in
discos or fun days, pool parties at the end of the term. Students who fall in this category will be told of
this and a note will be sent to parents /carers advising them.

Congratulations to all students who have been able to comply with our school welfare and discipline
code.
FOOTBALL JUMPERS
I still have a few boys who haven’t bought back their footy jumpers from last term. Please ensure these are
returned as soon as possible.
CODE OF CONDUCT
Primary students will have received a Code of Conduct note. The note provides students and parents/carers
with a specific set of student behaviours that are expected to be displayed when playing sport. The note is to
be signed by parents and students and returned to school. Students who display undesirable behaviour will
not be able to participate in PSSA Sports.
I have listed below the Code of Conduct for your information:
Compete by the rules and spirit of the sport and abide by the referees', umpires', touch judges’,
coaches’ or other officials’ decisions.
Be a good sport and encourage my fellow team members.
Control my temper. Make no criticism either by word or gesture.
Be willing to train and prepare for the game. Preparation helps prevent injury and increases the level
of enjoyment.
Remember that there is no disgrace in losing – there is disgrace in not being able to accept it.
Excel in sportsmanship and fair play, therefore bringing great credit to myself, my team and my
school.

To wear the correct sporting uniform including appropriate shoes and a hat.
Remember that a person placed on any level or suspended will not be able to participate in
PSSA sport during that particular week.
INTEREST GROUPS
Glenroy PS will be conducting Interest Afternoons commencing 31/10 and concluding on 28/11. The
activities will be conducted each Wednesday afternoon between 2.15 and 3.15. We are offering students the
opportunity to experience activities that they may not normally experience at school. Activities will include:
dance, knitting, cooking, science, woodwork, sewing, puppetry, gardening, cooking, guitar, computer and
mosaic tiling to name a few.
The success of the program will depend on assistance from parents/carers.
If you are able to offer assistance with this particular program, please let me know.
Obviously students who cannot work within bounds of our school expectations will not be able to
participate.
NSW PRIMARY PRINCIPAL’S ASSOCIATION ANNUAL CONFERENCE
I will be attending the 2012 NSW Primary Principal’s Association Annual Conference in Sydney next week.
While I am away, Mrs Baily and Mrs O’Shea will be sharing the relieving Principal’s role.
P & C NEWS
Fete update – KC will be conducting the Cake Stall at the Fete, next week. A cake tray and note will be
going home with each family very shortly. We would really love heaps of homemade goodies to sell. All
items can be bought to the Canteen on the day of the Fete. Please contribute if you can. The more we have
to sell the better.
Don’t forget to sort out your cupboards and bring your items in for the Trash ‘n’ Treasure stall. Clean,
good quality items can be dropped off at the new Hall this Friday 19/10 between 2.30pm and 3.30pm or by
arrangement with Allanna Kennedy on 0417 011622.
We are also looking for donations for the Second hand Clothing Stall. Again, we are looking for clean,
good quality items (no undergarments please). They can be dropped off at the new Hall on the days and
times above or by arrangement with Vivian Hayden on 0403 954418.
Fete thank you – A big thank you to Ray & Karen Mitchell (Grandparents of Emily, Adam and Abbie
Owens) for their generous donations of toys for the Chocolate Wheel, Thurgoona Bakery for their donation
and discounted prices of bread and Stacey & Joel Phillips and family for their donation of handmade cards
and gift buckets full of car care products. Your help is very much appreciated.
Fete Poster competition – Thank you to all those that entered. There was a great amount of effort put
in and it was a very tough decision to judge the winners. The winners were; Infants – Daniel Phillips and
Primary - Emily Tanner. Congratulations and well done. Your prizes will be delivered to you shortly.
At our September meeting the P & C voted in favour of purchasing enough
sports shirts for all PSSA Sporting teams. 100 shirts will be purchased at a
total cost of approximately $3000.00.
At this meeting a decision was also made to contribute half of the cost
associated with the new PA/Class communication system, approximately
$1500.00.
This is just an example of where all your hard working fundraising dollars will
go this year. Thank you for your continued support.
Kylie McLeod-Nibbs
P & C President
Brekky Club
Every morning form 8.40am-9am. Everyone welcome. We are in need of donations of margarine,
milo, vegemite, jam and baked beans. This would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you to everyone who has donated this term.
