ARCA ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF
FRANCISCO GARZA EGLOFF AS
NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Monterrey, Mexico, November 27, 2002 – Embotelladoras Arca
S. A. de C.V. (“Arca” or “the Company”) announced today the
appointment of Mr. Francisco Garza Egloff as new Chief
Executive Officer of Arca, effective January 16, 2003. Currently,
Mr. Garza Egloff is CEO of Sigma Alimentos, a subsidiary of Alfa.
Mr. Miguel Fernández Iturriza, Arca’s current CEO, will remain as
Chairman of the Board.
Mr. Miguel Fernández stated, “We are very pleased that Francisco
is joining Arca. The experience he has developed during 25 years
with Alfa, one of Mexico’s most prestigious companies, will bring
us countless benefits. His vision, leadership and knowledge in
making the production and distribution processes more efficient,
and in successfully launching new branded products, are key
components for the growth and development of a company such
as Arca.”
Mr. Fernández added, “With the appointment of Francisco, we
meet one of the original objectives of the merger of Arca’s three
predecessors: to institutionalize our management team and
transform Arca into an even more competitive and dynamic
company.”
Mr. Garza Egloff commented, “It is an honor for me, and at the
same time, a great personal commitment to lead this Company. I
am certain that with the collaborative efforts of board members,
managers and employees, we will accomplish the integration of
Arca’s operations and transform it into a more productive

people that comprise it.”
Since joining Alfa in 1977, Mr. Garza Egloff held various positions
in the area of petrochemicals and synthetic fibers, including CEO
of Akra, Petrocel-Temex and Polioles, between 1981 and 1999.
In May 1999, he became CEO of Sigma Alimentos. Mr. Garza
Egloff is 48 years of age and has a Chemical Engineering degree
from the Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey, and completed the
executive program at the IPADE.
