P.A.C.T. Head Start: Doing ongoing recruitment for families, especially those with<br />

children who will be 3 before December 1, 2005. Call 298-3143. There is currently a<br />

large waiting list for Early Head Start in Macomb. Classes start on August 22 nd and<br />

August 29 th depending on the class.<br />

Rural Development: They will be holding another Homebuyer Workshop on September<br />

8, 2005 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Macomb City Hall. Featured Speakers: Nicki Morgan,<br />

USDA Rural Development, Ron Riggins, Eagle Mortgage, Becky Peabody, Remax, and<br />

Rob Westen, Hayes Appraisals. A light meal will be served.<br />

North Central Behavioral Health: Jennifer Lee – new case manager<br />

<strong>McDonough</strong> <strong>County</strong> Health Department:<br />

Hosting a Baby Shower for all new and expecting mothers from 2-4 p.m. on August 5 th .<br />

This is in honor of their 30 th Anniversary and Breast Feeding Awareness Week. There<br />

will be door prizes, refreshments, and gift bags.<br />

Marci Roberts – Working on the restructuring of the volunteer program at the Health<br />

Department<br />

<strong>McDonough</strong> <strong>County</strong> Even Start – We have moved: 339 South Johnson Street. Still<br />

providing GED preparation and child care, but no more lunch. (309) 836-5775. Still<br />

taking any referrals for families with children under 8. Nicole is the new GED teacher at<br />

Even Start.<br />

<strong>McDonough</strong> <strong>County</strong> Housing Authority:<br />

Kathy Millard is the new Resident Services Manager for the Housing Authority, taking<br />

over for Janice Whitfield.<br />

Kathy is very excited to be with the <strong>McDonough</strong> <strong>County</strong> Housing Authority. She looks<br />

forward to working with each of the <strong>Interagency</strong> <strong>Council</strong> Members in this capacity.<br />

Adopted new policies for college students who are head of household. Must be classified<br />

as an independent student as with applying with federal aid. If not independent (parents<br />

claim them for their taxes), they are not eligible for housing assistance. HUD did not<br />

push this, it was a local policy, but then it did change this spring officially by the state.<br />

They then asked the Housing Authorities to adopt this policy. Eisenhower Tower will be<br />

most affected by this policy change.<br />

Catholic Charities: The Catholic Charities board is currently taking donations for a<br />

school supply donation programs.<br />

Spoon River College:<br />

Getting ready for classes starting August 22 nd – registration has begun. Not only for GED<br />

eligible but those people who have a low reading level.
