Academic structure of the University
The University of Southampton comprises three Faculties,
which include 22 Academic Schools. Many of our induction
activities are organised at Faculty level.
To help you navigate through this booklet, we have colourcoded
the Faculties and Schools.
Faculty of Engineering, Science and Mathematics
Academic Schools: Chemistry, Civil Engineering and
the Enviroment; Engineering Sciences; Electronics and
Computer Science; Foundation Year in Engineering, Physics
and Geophysics; Geography; Institute of Sound and
Vibration Research; Mathematics; Ocean and Earth Science;
Optoeletronics Research Centre; Physics and Astronomy.
Please note the colour of the Faculty as it will match that
of the School – this should make it easier to follow which
events and activities are relevant to you and your chosen
course of study.
