A day at the beach at Buffumville Lake<br />
A couple fishermen waded into the water, waiting patiently for a bite.<br />

CHARLTON — Many locals celebrated the nation’s birthday at the beach this year, spending the sunny Fourth of<br />
July at Buffumville Lake. From grilling and lounging to fishing and swimming, the lake was the perfect spot to cool<br />
off and rejoice.<br />

Suspect in Webster armed robbery still unknown<br />

on scene reported to police that<br />
they had been “pistol whipped<br />
while two suspects made off with<br />
an undisclosed amount of product<br />
and cash.”<br />
The employee gave police a<br />
description of “two males,” both<br />
“white, [and] one wearing a white<br />
T-shirt, shorts, and having a tattoo<br />
of three skulls on the right side of<br />
his neck. He was about 6 foot, with<br />
a medium build. The other had a<br />
black T-shirt on and jeans. He was<br />
about 5’10” with a medium build.”<br />
The report went onto say both<br />
suspects were reported to have<br />
“been on foot [and] in the Park<br />
Avenue/Second Island [Road]<br />
area.”<br />
As of Monday, July 9, no further<br />
information was available from<br />
police.<br />

ALLEGED BANK ROBBER<br />
APPREHENDED IN MILLBURY<br />
Half a day after the Auburn<br />
Police Department released a photo<br />
of an alleged bank robbery suspect,<br />
a local resident matching the image<br />
was brought into custody on previous<br />
chargers.<br />
Medway resident Todd P.<br />
Mitchell, 35, of 120B Village St., was<br />
brought into custody by Millbury<br />
police and was charged with armed<br />
robbery. According to Auburn<br />
police Mitchell was changed with<br />
the crime in Worcester Central<br />
District Court on Tuesday, July 3,<br />
by Auburn police detectives.<br />
“The majority of the stolen currency<br />
was recovered by Auburn<br />
detectives,” according to Auburn<br />
police.<br />
According to Detective Sgt.<br />
Jeffrey A. Lourie on Monday, July 2,<br />
officers responded to a call at<br />
approximately 10 a.m., from an<br />
employee at the Bank of America<br />
located on 376 <strong>Southbridge</strong> St.,<br />
which reported that they had been<br />
robbed.<br />
“The suspect was described as a<br />
white male wearing a faded Bruins<br />
baseball hat, jeans and flip-flop type<br />
footwear. The male was further<br />
described as being approximately 6<br />
feet tall and weighing approximately<br />
220 pounds. The suspect was<br />
described as having a ‘lazy eye,”<br />
according to Lourie. “The perpetrator<br />
handed a bank teller a note<br />
demanding money and verbally<br />
threatened that he had a weapon.”<br />
Lourie went onto say that later in<br />
the evening Auburn police had<br />
received an anonymous tip at<br />
approximately 8:40 p.m., “that a<br />
man matching the description of<br />
the Bank of America robbery suspect<br />
was in the town of Millbury.<br />
The Millbury Police Department<br />
were contacted and located the<br />
male.”<br />
He said Mitchell was then arrested<br />
“on an unrelated warrant.”<br />
Lourie said he was said to be wearing<br />
the same clothes, which were<br />
seen in the surveillance photos.<br />
