FINAL BUSHFIRE APPEAL TALLY
In a letter to our State Secretary, Kevin Reynolds from Robert Tickner, Chief
Executive Officer of the Australian Red Cross, he said; “On behalf of the
Australian Red Cross and those affected by the recent devastating Victorian
bushfires, thank you sincerely for your generous donation in the support of the
2009 Victorian Bushfire Appeal Fund.
Our members in WA raised a record amount and should all be extremely proud.
The final tally breakdown was:
CFMEU Union donation: $50,000
Monies collected from the city area: $161,272.45
Country area donations that were sent directly: $232,500
Monies matched by employers: $187,000
Grand Total: $630,772.45

GABRIEL BARRY
Our member Gabriel Barry,
a proud Irishman sadly
passed away with a dying
wish to have his ashes
returned to his beloved
Ireland. Gabriel’s’ wife Myra and the
Barry family would like to thank all
those who contributed via a raffle to
raise funds to allow her to take
Gabriel’s ashes back home. A TV was
kindly donated by G&N Conform and
the crew form Tony’ Kelly’s Salta site
on Adelaide terrace, the C-BUS site in
William Street and the AT crew at Rise
Apartment all bought tickets.
Well done guys!

SO, YOU WANT TO JOIN A POLITICAL PARTY?
I was talking to a friend of mine's little girl, and she said she wanted to be Prime
Minister some day. Both of her parents, who vote Labor, were standing there, so
I asked her if you were Prime Minister what would be the first thing you'd do?
She replied, I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people.
Wow – what a worthy goal I told her, but you don't have to wait until you're Prime
Minister to do that. You can come over to my house and mow the lawn, pull up
the weeds, sweep my patio, and I'll pay you
$50. Then I'll take you over to a place where a
homeless chap hangs out, and you can give
him the $50 to use toward food or a new
house.
She thought that over for a few seconds,
'cause she's only six. And while her Mum
glared at me, she looked me straight in the
eye and asked, why doesn't the homeless
man come over and do the work, and you
can just pay him the $50?
And I replied, welcome to the Liberal Party!
