Allocation of commencing students to an advising
faculty
• All commencing students are allocated to a faculty student advice
office.
• Data is gathered during the admission process about each student’s
TISC code, chosen course code and “area of interest”.
• Each “area of interest” is owned by a single Faculty.
• The TISC code, chosen course code, area of interest and enrolled
course code information is used to determine the most appropriate
advising Faculty allocation for each student.
• A SIMS job is run nightly to allocate &/or check the faculty student
advice office allocations
• Allocations are displayed in studentConnect and staffConnect
