For a surreal outdoor experience and breathtaking natural beauty, the ‘Sichuan Alpine<br />

Your explorations begin in Huanglong, after transferring from the airport. From here take a<br />

one-way cable car and take a short hike above the long valley dotted with turquoise terraced<br />

pools. The dramatic contrast of evergreen forest, shimmering pools and yellow limestone is<br />

truly a sight to behold. From here, drive to Jiuzhaigou, one of <strong>China</strong>’s most beautiful natural<br />

reserves, famous for evergreen alpine forests, spectacularly clear turquoise lakes and<br />

snowcapped mountains. No private buses are allowed in the national park, so you will use<br />

a combination of park transportation and boardwalk hiking to see the highlights. Autumn<br />

marks a distinctive change with the green leaves turning a radiant golden orange. From here<br />

transfer to Jiuzhai Airport for your onward flight.<br />

Buddha of Leshan and the temples of Mount Emei.<br />

Begin with a visit to the Giant Panda Research & Breeding Base and learn about the efforts<br />

being made to protect these amazing animals. On return to Chengdu, stop at the garden<br />

home of the renowned Tang Dynasty poet, Dufu. Relax in the teahouses of People’s Park<br />

before exploring Qingtai Old Street. After a Sichuan hotpot dinner, enjoy a Sichuan Opera<br />

performance. The next day drive south to Leshan to see Da Fo, the largest Buddha statue<br />

in the world and enjoy a cruise at its base. Head further south to Mount Emei (Emei Shan),<br />

one of four famous Buddhist mountains in <strong>China</strong>. This cool, forested region is dotted with<br />

temples, monasteries and mist-shrouded peaks. Take a cable car up to Wannian Temple,<br />
