Fly to Beijing with Air China, then spend 4 days exploring China’s capital – why not start with
the infamous Tiananmen Square, the magnificent Forbidden City and a rickshaw ride through
the city’s ancient hutongs? A morning at the Temple of Heaven followed by the opulently
decorated Summer Palace can easily fill your second day and be sure to set some time aside
to explore some of Beijing’s markets like the renowned Panjiayuan Dirt Market (only open
weekends) and lively Wangfujing night market. An excursion to the incredible Great Wall makes
a memorable finale to your visit to Beijing – why not take our tour to the less-visited section
at Mutianyo?
On day 5, a morning flight brings you to historic Xian. After transferring to your hotel, head out
into town to explore the Bell and Drum Towers, the Grand Mosque within the colourful Muslim
Quarter and the excellent Shaanxi Provincial Museum. The following day will surely be spent
on an excursion to the famed Army of the Terracotta Warriors. From Xian, fly to Shanghai – a
dazzling melange of the old and new from the elegant colonial structures along the Bund to
the cutting-edge architecture of futuristic Pudong. Those looking for bargains will be spoilt
for choice with the city’s wide range of modern department stores or, for a more traditional
shopping experience, check out the Yu Garden Bazaar and Fanbang Street in the Chinese Old
Quarter. And don’t miss Shanghai’s pulsating restaurant and nightlife scene, not to mention a
jaw-dropping performance by the world famous Shanghai Acrobats! Your journey ends with a
departure transfer on day 10 for your return flight to Australia.

This 13 night package starts with 4 days in Beijing with plenty of time to visit famous sites like
the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven, the Summer Palace and the amazing Great Wall of
China. You should also make time to see some of Beijing’s impressive examples of inspired
modern architecture such as the ‘Water Cube’ and the ‘Bird’s Nest’ stadium, the focus of world
attention during the 2008 Olympics.
Fly to Xian for 2 days to soak up the unique atmosphere of this historic walled city and marvel
at the incredible Terracotta Warriors. Continue with a flight to Guilin, renowned for its magical
landscapes. You may like to take a tour of the spectacular chambers and caverns of the Reed
Flute Cave; venture into the mountains to Longsheng, home to a variety of fascinating minority
groups, or take a cruise along the tranquil Li River to the charming town of Yangshuo.
Finally, fly to Shanghai for 3 days of sightseeing – check out the famous Bund with its colonial
architecture and views over the Huangpu River to Pudong, the excellent Shanghai Museum
and the tranquil Yu Garden - plus some of Asia’s best shopping, finest restaurants and vibrant
nightlife. For the ultimate in contrasts, step back in time with a day trip to the ancient water
town of Zhujiajiao. On day 13, your tour ends with a transfer to the airport – on request, we
can arrange for you to transfer by metro and the Maglev train, which travels at an incredible
speed of 430 km/h!
