The SRS was designed as a 2GeV electron storage ring producing intense photon beams from the infrared through to the X-ray region of the
electromagnetic spectrum. The SRS ran from 1981 to 2008 and was the world’s first facility fully dedicated to the exploitation of synchrotron
radiation for fundamental and applied research.
