<strong>JUNIOR</strong> <strong>SCHOOL</strong> <strong>NEWS</strong><br />

<strong>STUDENT</strong> LEADERSHIP INDUCTION SERVICES<br />

Last week Year 6 2012 were presented with their Year 6 2012 badge and House cap, both symbols<br />

of the leadership role each and every Year 6 student plays within the Junior <strong>School</strong>. The students are<br />

wearing both items with pride and taking on the responsibilities that being a role model in the<br />

<strong>School</strong> brings. Servant leadership and a gentle approach where captains form positive relationships<br />

with others were the underlying messages of Mr Crawley's address to the Year 4 - 6 students. This<br />

week Year 3 Captains were also be presented with their badges.<br />

CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES<br />

This year a large range of clubs has been offered for students in Years 1 – 6 to become involved.<br />

These clubs commenced this week. Parents are reminded that all students who are not collected<br />

from the venue of the club at the advertised finishing time will be booked into After <strong>School</strong> Care<br />

and after school care charges will apply.


<strong>JUNIOR</strong> <strong>SCHOOL</strong> CHOIRS<br />

Year 2 Choir<br />

Year 2 choir will begin on Thursday 9 February at 3:30-4:15pm. Mrs Dong will meet the choir girls<br />

outside Junior <strong>School</strong> Reception at 3.25pm. The students will have 10 minutes to have afternoon tea<br />

in the Prep – Year 1 eating area and then go to Junior Music for singing. Parents are required to<br />

meet their daughters in the Prep – Year 1 eating area at 4.15pm. Any students not collected at this<br />

time will be taken to After <strong>School</strong> Care. After <strong>School</strong> Care charges will apply once the student is<br />

booked in.<br />

Year 3 and 4 Choir<br />

Year 3 and 4 choir will begin on Tuesday 7 February at 3:30-4:30pm. Mrs Dong will meet the choir<br />

girls outside Junior <strong>School</strong> Reception at 3.25pm. The students will have 10 minutes to have<br />

Year 5 – 7 Choir<br />

Year 5 - 7 choir is held in the Senior Music Room on Tuesdays 3.30 – 4.45pm. Parents are required<br />

to meet their daughters at the Flag Pole at 4.45pm. Any students not collected at this time will be<br />

taken to Boarders Reception for supervision.<br />

HOUSE DAY<br />

On Monday 13 February the Junior <strong>School</strong> will celebrate its first House Colour Day for this year.<br />

All students are to wear their House shirt with <strong>School</strong> sports shorts to <strong>School</strong> on this day. House<br />

shirts can be purchased from the Uniform Shop. <strong>St</strong>udents will have morning tea together and some<br />

activities have been organised by the House Captains.<br />

UNIFORM<br />

Many of our students have had growth spurts over the summer holiday break and this is evident in<br />

the length of uniforms. Uniforms should be worn at knee length. Please check your daughter’s<br />

uniform to ensure that is at knee length. <strong>St</strong>udents are required to wear their panama to and from<br />

school every day. For sun safety all students must wear their play hat at morning tea and<br />

lunchtimes. Earrings, if worn, should be plain gold or silver stud or sleepers. <strong>St</strong>udents wearing<br />

other designs will be asked to remove them.<br />

2012 TRIVIA NIGHT<br />

Parents and friends of <strong>St</strong> Hilda’s <strong>School</strong> are invited to the 2012 Centenary Year Trivia Night,<br />

coordinated by the Women’s Auxiliary. Join friends, family and members of staff for a great night<br />

of fun, entertainment and some mind-bending trivia!<br />

Date: Saturday 25 February<br />

Venue: Bev Philben Room (parking via Gate 7)<br />

Time: 6.30pm-9.30pm<br />

Cost: $15 a head<br />

BYO: Food, beverages and table decorations<br />

Dress: Favourite Fashions of the Century!<br />

There will be raffles to be won and auctions, including the much coveted car park space for 12<br />

months, located in the Visitors’ Car Park adjacent to James Building. Prizes will be awarded to the


Trivia Winners and the Best Dressed Table. Payment may be made by downloading and completing<br />

the registration form on Parent Lounge. Credit card and cheque payment preferred, by Monday 20<br />

<strong>STUDENT</strong> ACHIEVEMENTS<br />

Many of our students are involved in a number of activities outside of school. We would like to<br />

celebrate their achievements in these activities as they occur. Mr Brad Moore (Junior <strong>School</strong> Sport<br />

Co-ordinator) and I would be delighted to hear of any achievements of Junior <strong>School</strong> students in these<br />

external activities.<br />
