JUNIOR SCHOOL NEWS
STUDENT LEADERSHIP INDUCTION SERVICES
Last week Year 6 2012 were presented with their Year 6 2012 badge and House cap, both symbols
of the leadership role each and every Year 6 student plays within the Junior School. The students are
wearing both items with pride and taking on the responsibilities that being a role model in the
School brings. Servant leadership and a gentle approach where captains form positive relationships
with others were the underlying messages of Mr Crawley's address to the Year 4 - 6 students. This
week Year 3 Captains were also be presented with their badges.
CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
This year a large range of clubs has been offered for students in Years 1 – 6 to become involved.
These clubs commenced this week. Parents are reminded that all students who are not collected
from the venue of the club at the advertised finishing time will be booked into After School Care
and after school care charges will apply.

JUNIOR SCHOOL CHOIRS
Year 2 Choir
Year 2 choir will begin on Thursday 9 February at 3:30-4:15pm. Mrs Dong will meet the choir girls
outside Junior School Reception at 3.25pm. The students will have 10 minutes to have afternoon tea
in the Prep – Year 1 eating area and then go to Junior Music for singing. Parents are required to
meet their daughters in the Prep – Year 1 eating area at 4.15pm. Any students not collected at this
time will be taken to After School Care. After School Care charges will apply once the student is
booked in.
Year 3 and 4 Choir
Year 3 and 4 choir will begin on Tuesday 7 February at 3:30-4:30pm. Mrs Dong will meet the choir
girls outside Junior School Reception at 3.25pm. The students will have 10 minutes to have

required to meet their daughters in the Prep – Year 1 eating area at 4.30pm. Any students not

Year 5 – 7 Choir
Year 5 - 7 choir is held in the Senior Music Room on Tuesdays 3.30 – 4.45pm. Parents are required
to meet their daughters at the Flag Pole at 4.45pm. Any students not collected at this time will be
taken to Boarders Reception for supervision.
HOUSE DAY
On Monday 13 February the Junior School will celebrate its first House Colour Day for this year.
All students are to wear their House shirt with School sports shorts to School on this day. House
shirts can be purchased from the Uniform Shop. Students will have morning tea together and some
activities have been organised by the House Captains.
UNIFORM
Many of our students have had growth spurts over the summer holiday break and this is evident in
the length of uniforms. Uniforms should be worn at knee length. Please check your daughter’s
uniform to ensure that is at knee length. Students are required to wear their panama to and from
school every day. For sun safety all students must wear their play hat at morning tea and
lunchtimes. Earrings, if worn, should be plain gold or silver stud or sleepers. Students wearing
other designs will be asked to remove them.
2012 TRIVIA NIGHT
Parents and friends of St Hilda’s School are invited to the 2012 Centenary Year Trivia Night,
coordinated by the Women’s Auxiliary. Join friends, family and members of staff for a great night
of fun, entertainment and some mind-bending trivia!
Date: Saturday 25 February
Venue: Bev Philben Room (parking via Gate 7)
Time: 6.30pm-9.30pm
Cost: $15 a head
BYO: Food, beverages and table decorations
Dress: Favourite Fashions of the Century!
There will be raffles to be won and auctions, including the much coveted car park space for 12
months, located in the Visitors’ Car Park adjacent to James Building. Prizes will be awarded to the

Trivia Winners and the Best Dressed Table. Payment may be made by downloading and completing
the registration form on Parent Lounge. Credit card and cheque payment preferred, by Monday 20

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENTS
Many of our students are involved in a number of activities outside of school. We would like to
celebrate their achievements in these activities as they occur. Mr Brad Moore (Junior School Sport
Co-ordinator) and I would be delighted to hear of any achievements of Junior School students in these
external activities.
