Friday of the First Week of Holy Pentecost
the camp, bearing his reproach. For
here have we no continuing city, but
we seek one to come. By him
therefore let us offer the sacrifice of
praise to God continually, that is, the
fruit of our lips giving thanks to his
name. But to do good and to
communicate forget not: for with such
sacrifices God is well pleased. Obey
them that have the rule over you, and
submit yourselves: for they watch for
your souls, as they that must give
account, that they may do it with joy,
and not with grief: for that is
unprofitable for you.
The grace of God the Father be with you all. Amen.
Pray for us: for we trust we have
a good conscience, in all things willing
to live honestly. But I beseech you the
rather to do this, that I may be
restored to you the sooner. Now the
God of peace, that brought again from
the dead our Lord Jesus, that great
shepherd of the sheep, through the
blood of the everlasting covenant,
Make you perfect in every good work
to do his will, working in you that
which is wellpleasing in his sight,
through Jesus Christ; to whom be
glory for ever and ever. Amen.

But the word of the Lord
endureth for ever. And this is the
word which by the gospel is preached
unto you. Wherefore laying aside all
malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies,
and envies, and all evil speakings, As
newborn babes, desire the sincere milk
of the word, that ye may grow
thereby: If so be ye have tasted that
the Lord is gracious. To whom
coming, as unto a living stone,
disallowed indeed of men, but chosen
of God, and precious, Ye also, as lively
stones, are built up a spiritual house,
an holy priesthood, to offer up
spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God
by Jesus Christ. Wherefore also it is
contained in the scripture, Behold, I
lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect,
precious: and he that believeth on him
shall not be confounded. Unto you
therefore which believe he is precious:
but unto them which be disobedient,
the stone which the builders
disallowed, the same is made the head
of the corner, And a stone of
stumbling, and a rock of offence, even
to them which stumble at the word,
being disobedient: whereunto also
they were appointed. But ye are a
chosen generation, a royal priesthood,
an holy nation, a peculiar people; that
ye should shew forth the praises of
him who hath called you out of
darkness into his marvellous light:
Which in time past were not a people,
but are now the people of God: which
had not obtained mercy, but now have
obtained mercy.
Do not love the world, nor the things which are in the world. The world shall pass away and all its desires; but he
who does the will of God shall abide forever. Amen.
