PSALI ADAM<br />
<strong>The</strong> Apostles proclaimed the holy teaching <strong>of</strong> the Gospel not in<br />
the oldness <strong>of</strong> the letter, but in the newness <strong>of</strong> the Holy Spirit,<br />
their manner <strong>of</strong> speech giving signs there<strong>of</strong> in the language <strong>of</strong><br />
every tongue (and) in fiery tongues. <strong>The</strong> Jews who had grown old<br />
in iniquity mocked, saying: “<strong>The</strong>ir belly is filled with new wine.”<br />
Unwittingly they spoke the truth, for the new wine in their<br />
mouths was the grace <strong>of</strong> the Spirit with which the Apostles were<br />
filled, (and) they spoke in purity (and) in fiery tongues.<br />
Through their prayers, O Lord, the Lover <strong>of</strong> mankind, cleanse<br />
us also from the evil <strong>of</strong> the old man, (and) make us worthy <strong>of</strong> the<br />
fellowship <strong>of</strong> Thine Holy Spirit.<br />
Through the prayers <strong>of</strong> our Fathers the Apostles, O Lord,<br />
grant us, the forgiveness <strong>of</strong> our sins.<br />
<strong>The</strong>n they say the Gospel response:<br />
He ascended to the Heaven <strong>of</strong> heavens,/ Towards the East,/ That<br />
He may send to us/ <strong>The</strong> Spirit <strong>of</strong> Truth, the Paraclete.<br />
This is He to Whom the glory is due …<br />
<strong>The</strong> priest then says the Prayers for the Sick, the Travellers,<br />
the Fruits, and then the Prayer for the Place:<br />
PRIEST:<br />
Remember, O Lord, this holy place, which is Thine, and every<br />
place, and every monastery <strong>of</strong> our <strong>Orthodox</strong> fathers.<br />
DEACON:<br />
Pray for the safety <strong>of</strong> this holy place and every place, and<br />
every monastery <strong>of</strong> our <strong>Orthodox</strong> fathers; the deserts and the<br />
elders who dwell therein. And for the safety <strong>of</strong> the world<br />
altogether, that Christ our God keep them from every evil, and
