28 THIRD KNEELING<br />
CONGREGATION:<br />
Lord have mercy.<br />
Here the priest <strong>of</strong>fers incense towards the East saying,<br />
PRIEST:<br />
Arise, O Lord God. Let all Thine enemies be scattered, and<br />
let all that hate Thine Holy Name flee before Thy face.<br />
Here the priest turns towards the west and censes the<br />
congregation saying,<br />
PRIEST:<br />
But let Thy people be in blessing; thousands <strong>of</strong> thousands and<br />
ten thousand times ten thousand doing Thy will.<br />
<strong>The</strong>n he looks towards the East and says:<br />
Through the grace …<br />
<strong>The</strong> congregation then recites the Tris-Agion, the Lord’s<br />
Prayer, then “Hail to you, we ask you …” <strong>The</strong> Doxologies are<br />
then sung in the ordinary tune. Meanwhile, the priest goes to<br />
the Altar, puts three handfuls <strong>of</strong> incense into the censer, circles<br />
the Altar once, then goes down in front <strong>of</strong> the door <strong>of</strong> the<br />
sanctuary, <strong>of</strong>fers incense to the four corners and the Gospel,<br />
then to the priests and the congregation according to the<br />
custom <strong>of</strong> the Evening Offering <strong>of</strong> Incense. After the<br />
conclusion <strong>of</strong> the Doxologies, the Creed is recited, then the<br />
priest, holding the cross with three lighted tapers in his right<br />
hand chants, “God have mercy upon us …” according to its<br />
known tune. <strong>The</strong> people respond, “Kyrie Eleison” three times<br />
on the cymbals.<br />
