Do join us @st mary’s on Our own preparations for our Winter Warmer have already started. Winter Warmer is more than just a traditional Church Christmas Sale – we offer hospitality and there are activities, puzzles and games available for all ages as well as the usual stalls selling goods, bric-abrac, books or asking you to chance your luck in exchange for a small prize. Local craftspeople hold stalls selling quality goods which make interesting Christmas gifts; local charities may raise money for their own funds alongside stalls raising funds for missions or charities regularly supported by the Church. Put the date in your diary now! Create your interpretation of Christmas in crayon, pastel, paint or collage! Entries from all ages are welcome. Entry forms with full details are available from the Church Office. Closing date: Saturday 29 November, during the Winter Warmer – for display in Church from December 5 – 22. Further details visit www.stmarysb.org.uk stmarysb@hotmail.co.uk 0117 9687449 The Church Rooms Sad goodbyes It is with regret that we record the closure of St Mary’s Pre-school. Due to a falling roll, the school closed in July. It had grown from the playgroup established in 1974 by Anni Davey and a team of volunteers; many children in Stoke Bishop have been cared for, entertained and taught early educational skills, here in the Church rooms. The existing parents and friends joined with staff for a farewell party. Space available This does mean that St Mary’s now has rooms available for hire during the week. If any group need such a venue please contact the Church Office to discuss your requirements. Scouts and Scout Hut The 43rd Scout Group are opening their Cubbaccinos Community Cafe for the first me on Saturday 6th September at their Scout Hut along Kewstoke Road. The Café will be open on the first Saturday of every month between 10-12.30 for drinks, cakes, books and fun. All proceeds are towards the New Hut Fund. Come along and take me out! Children still welcome Parents, Grandparents, Carers and children are welcome weekly on a Monday afternoon from 1.30pm at Bright Sparks (restarting on 15 September) and at Mini Church which meets monthly on the first Saturday of each month at 3.00pm.
Instep Club for Widows and Widowers Wednesday evenings 8-10 pm at Stoke Bishop Village Hall Dancing - Ballroom and Sequence (If you haven’t danced for a long time, don’t worry, we will help you learn) Tea or coffee and biscuits. Monthly American suppers. Social activities Annual membership £8. Members: £2 per session.
