Scouts Service Unit<br />
Scholarship<br />
$250 awarded in 2010<br />
Eligibility Requirements: Scholarship <strong>to</strong> be awarded <strong>to</strong> a graduating female<br />
student who is currently or was formerly a member of a <strong>Hanover</strong> Girl Scout troop.<br />
Preference will be given <strong>to</strong> those students that were long time participants in<br />
scouting in <strong>Hanover</strong>. In addition <strong>to</strong> the application please submit a one page<br />
response <strong>to</strong> one of the following prompts: (1) Describe your overall experience as a<br />
Girl Scout. How have you personally benefited from Girl Scouting? (2) Explain one<br />
GS service project that you participated in that was meaningful <strong>to</strong> you. Describe<br />
your role and who benefited from the project. At least 1, but no more than 3 letters<br />
of recommendation are required. If you are currently a Girl Scout we encourage<br />
you <strong>to</strong> please ask your troop leaders <strong>to</strong> write a brief letter recommending you for<br />
this scholarship. Application may be obtained by emailing the <strong>Hanover</strong> Girl Scout<br />
Service Unit Treasurer/Scholarship Chairperson listed below.<br />

Society Scholarship<br />
$500 awarded in 2010<br />
Eligibility Requirements: To be awarded <strong>to</strong> a <strong>Hanover</strong> High School graduating<br />
senior. Applicant must submit a typewritten essay of 2 <strong>to</strong> 3 pages based on an<br />
INTERVIEW by the applicant of a person who has first-hand knowledge of a<br />
his<strong>to</strong>rical event: OR AN INTERVIEW by the applicant of a person who has<br />
documents or memorabilia relating <strong>to</strong> an earlier his<strong>to</strong>rical event experienced by<br />
someone else (especially the Civil War or earlier). His<strong>to</strong>rical events may include<br />
(but are not limited <strong>to</strong>) a War: a Catastrophe or Weather-Related event: a Civil<br />
Rights event: a Political event: or any other event of his<strong>to</strong>rical interest. This must<br />
be information gathered by the applicant personally and not previously published.<br />
