CITY OF MELBOURNE, FLORIDA<br />

MINUTES – REGULAR MEETING BEFORE CITY COUNCIL<br />

APRIL <strong>10</strong>, <strong>2007</strong><br />

From the audience a resident (Brian LaLonde) called a Point <strong>of</strong> Order. Mayor Goode<br />

informed Mr. LaLonde that he may not call a Point <strong>of</strong> Order. Mr. LaLonde disagreed.<br />

The Mayor stated that the public hearing has been closed. He instructed Mr. LaLonde to<br />

sit and mind his manners or the <strong>of</strong>ficer will be instructed to remove him. After Mr.<br />

LaLonde stated that the public hearing has not been closed, Mayor Goode instructed the<br />

<strong>of</strong>ficer to remove Mr. LaLonde. As he was exiting the Council Chamber, Mr. LaLonde<br />

shouted, “As long as you don’t speak on this what you just voted on. Can we trust you?”<br />

Returning to the item on the agenda, Mrs. Meehan said that there are also problems on<br />

Lincoln Avenue, Waverly Place and Palmetto Avenue and she wants to ensure that the<br />

<strong>of</strong>ficer patrols those areas as well.<br />

Moved by Meehan/Palmer for approval <strong>of</strong> Ordinance No. <strong>2007</strong>-15. The roll call vote was:<br />

Contreras, Meehan, Thomas, Palmer, Corby, LaRusso and Goode<br />

Motion carried unanimously.<br />

<strong>10</strong>. ORDINANCE NO. <strong>2007</strong>-16 (A&V NO. 265): (Second Reading/Public Hearing) An<br />

ordinance vacating a 0.11-acre portion <strong>of</strong> right-<strong>of</strong>-way and providing for the retention <strong>of</strong> a<br />

public utilities easement over the entire right-<strong>of</strong>-way being vacated at the southeast corner<br />

<strong>of</strong> Circle Avenue South and Shull Avenue. (Applicant - Riverside, LLC) (First Reading -<br />

3/27/07)<br />

Attorney Gougelman read Ordinance No. <strong>2007</strong>-16 by title. There were no disclosures from<br />

Council. The public hearing was opened and closed without comment.<br />

Moved by Thomas/Meehan for approval <strong>of</strong> Ordinance No. <strong>2007</strong>-16. The roll call vote was:<br />

11. ORDINANCE NO. <strong>2007</strong>-17 (Z-<strong>2007</strong>-1<strong>10</strong>3) GARY N. WELLS, 1705 AIRPORT<br />

BOULEVARD: (Second Reading/Public Hearing) An ordinance changing the zoning from<br />

R-1AA (Single-Family Low Density Residential) to C-1A (Pr<strong>of</strong>essional, Offices, and<br />

Services) on a 0.24-acre parcel, located on the east side <strong>of</strong> Airport Boulevard, south <strong>of</strong> the<br />

intersection <strong>of</strong> Airport Boulevard and Fee Avenue. (Owner/Applicant - Gary N. Wells)<br />

(Representative - Tim Shortell) (First Reading - 3/27/07)<br />

The <strong>City</strong> Attorney read the ordinance by its title. There were no disclosures from Council<br />

and no comments during the public hearing.<br />
