Deleting<br />

Just as there are several ways to move around in the buffer, there are several ways to<br />

quickly delete unwanted information. <strong>The</strong> key or ^H can be used to delete the<br />

character before the pointer. By using ^D you can delete the character at the pointer.<br />

In addition, there are ways to delete words, lines <strong>and</strong> portions of lines. <strong>The</strong>re are also<br />

methods for blocking text <strong>and</strong> deleting entire sections of the buffer. For more information on<br />

working with blocks of text, see Cutting <strong>and</strong> Pasting below.<br />

Table 2-3 shows the various comm<strong>and</strong>s used to perform these functions.<br />
