<strong>Stewart</strong> <strong>wins</strong> <strong>championship</strong><br />

<strong>Rathfriland</strong> <strong>Farmers</strong> <strong>Co</strong>-<strong>op</strong> <strong>was</strong> <strong>the</strong> venue for <strong>the</strong> show and sale of pedigree Suffolks<br />

on Thursday evening. The judge John Hegarty from Ballymena found his champion in<br />

<strong>the</strong> pen of J M <strong>Stewart</strong> <strong>Co</strong>mber. This <strong>was</strong> a ram lamb by Castlewellan Kosovan out<br />

of a ewe by Muiresk Rainbow Quest, and <strong>was</strong> also placed 1 st in <strong>the</strong> ram lamb class.<br />

Reserve Champion went to Ivan Porter Ballyward with a ram lamb by Perrinpit<br />

Supersire ’99 which <strong>was</strong> placed second in <strong>the</strong> ram lamb class. Third in <strong>the</strong> ram lambs<br />

went to F Bryson Loughbrickland with a lamb by Blackhall Baron.<br />

The Shearling class <strong>was</strong> won by G McAdoo & Sons <strong>Co</strong>okstown with a ram by<br />

Rylandhill Will Do, and <strong>the</strong> same flock also secured 3 rd place with a ram by <strong>the</strong> same<br />

sire. Second place went to M Dorman Ballynahinch with a ram by Baileys<br />

Barrichello.<br />

The ewe lamb class <strong>was</strong> won by F Bryson Loughbrickland with a lamb by Birness on<br />

Parade. 2 nd & 3 rd place went to L Jamison Hillsborough with both lambs by Cairness<br />

Lord Jim.<br />

The auctioneer Rodney Windrum had no problem in finding buyers from <strong>the</strong> packed<br />

sale ring of customers. Leading prices in guineas were as follows:- Shearling Rams –<br />

M Dorman 560, L Jamison 520, G McAdoo & Sons 520, 480, 340. S Burns 460, A<br />

Linden 380, 320, D Aiken 300.<br />

Ram Lambs – I Porter 600, 450, 420, 380. C Magowan 430, 410, 400, 340. M<br />

Priestly 410, 400. F Bryson 400, 380,350. A Linden 430, 340. A Patton 410, 300.<br />

D Aiken 360. J M <strong>Stewart</strong> 350, 250. G McAdoo 360, 330. H Flynn 300. L<br />

Jamison 310. M Dorman 300.<br />

Ewe Lambs – F Bryson 200. L Jamison 180 & 160.<br />
