Stewart wins championship
Rathfriland Farmers Co-op was the venue for the show and sale of pedigree Suffolks
on Thursday evening. The judge John Hegarty from Ballymena found his champion in
the pen of J M Stewart Comber. This was a ram lamb by Castlewellan Kosovan out
of a ewe by Muiresk Rainbow Quest, and was also placed 1 st in the ram lamb class.
Reserve Champion went to Ivan Porter Ballyward with a ram lamb by Perrinpit
Supersire ’99 which was placed second in the ram lamb class. Third in the ram lambs
went to F Bryson Loughbrickland with a lamb by Blackhall Baron.
The Shearling class was won by G McAdoo & Sons Cookstown with a ram by
Rylandhill Will Do, and the same flock also secured 3 rd place with a ram by the same
sire. Second place went to M Dorman Ballynahinch with a ram by Baileys
Barrichello.
The ewe lamb class was won by F Bryson Loughbrickland with a lamb by Birness on
Parade. 2 nd & 3 rd place went to L Jamison Hillsborough with both lambs by Cairness
Lord Jim.
The auctioneer Rodney Windrum had no problem in finding buyers from the packed
sale ring of customers. Leading prices in guineas were as follows:- Shearling Rams –
