The Sweetenham <strong>Review</strong> commissioned in 2008 was focused primarily on the High Performance competitive<br />

area of <strong>SNZ</strong>. However as the High Performance area is interrelated with many other areas the report did<br />

cover matters outside High Performance.<br />

5.4. THE 2005 INESON REVIEW<br />

This review was undertaken to consider the capabilities of the Regions and <strong>SNZ</strong> and recommended a delivery<br />

Regions was not viable long term and that change was needed. The report noted that the sport is a “sleeping<br />

giant” waiting for the right combination of opportunity and preparation to bring it fully to life. Ineson calculated<br />

<strong>SNZ</strong>’s share of the total number of swimmers to be less than 1% and he believed “with the right strategies it<br />

should be able to grow to a minimum of 10% over time. The scope is enormous…”.<br />
