<strong>Minutes</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> 89 th <strong>AGM</strong> on <strong>the</strong> 27 th March 2012 held at <strong>the</strong> <strong>Swiss</strong> Austrian <strong>Club</strong>
1. NOTICE OF MEETING / APOLOGIES
The president Michael Hauser <strong>of</strong>ficially opened <strong>the</strong> 89 th <strong>AGM</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Swiss</strong> <strong>Social</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Sports</strong>
<strong>Club</strong>.

The president asked for a minute <strong>of</strong> silence to commemorate <strong>the</strong> members who passed on
during <strong>the</strong> course <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> year. The members were:
o Ella Suter, Ruedi Jaun, Margrit Bossard, Hilde Stelzner The president announced that
only paid members would be allowed to vote.
2. WELCOME
The president welcomed everyone <strong>and</strong> thanked <strong>the</strong>m for attending <strong>the</strong> 89 th <strong>AGM</strong> <strong>of</strong> our <strong>Swiss</strong>
<strong>Club</strong>.
The president invited our Consulate General, Irene Flückiger, to address <strong>the</strong> committee:
This was <strong>the</strong> 3 rd <strong>AGM</strong> attended by Irene. She informed <strong>the</strong> members that <strong>the</strong> new
ambassador arrived in Dec <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> Deputy Head <strong>of</strong> .. will arrive in April. The Consulate
General announced <strong>the</strong> resignation <strong>of</strong> Michael Hauser <strong>and</strong> Stefan Rusi as <strong>Swiss</strong> <strong>Club</strong>
President <strong>and</strong> Vice President, respectively. She thanked Michael <strong>and</strong> Stefan <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir
families for <strong>the</strong>ir dedication <strong>and</strong> <strong>of</strong>fered <strong>the</strong> continuous support <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Consulate to <strong>the</strong>
committee.
From <strong>the</strong> President:
2011 was a trying year for <strong>the</strong> club specifically concerning <strong>the</strong> catering <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> clubhouse. At
<strong>the</strong> last <strong>AGM</strong> <strong>the</strong> house committee took on Claus Goldbeck as caterer. After several
complaints <strong>and</strong> irregularities <strong>the</strong> house committee had to terminate <strong>the</strong> contract in
September. From August we had Renate Schmocker from Berne, who treated us with lovely
home food until <strong>the</strong> return <strong>of</strong> Martin Dannecker in November.
The highlight for me was certainly <strong>the</strong> very successful National Day celebration.
At <strong>the</strong> last <strong>AGM</strong> we introduced a new Jonkershoek committee who has done a sterling job.
You will hear about <strong>the</strong> developments later tonight.
3. Confirmation <strong>of</strong> minutes
Copies <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> 88 th <strong>AGM</strong> were distributed as confirmation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> minutes in March 2011.

4. ADOPTION OF THE FINANCIAL AND AUDITORS REPORT
The treasurer Annette Weber prepared <strong>the</strong> financial statements which she presented to <strong>the</strong>
members.
A quick look at <strong>the</strong> figures for INCOME shows that all is well in this department.
On <strong>the</strong> EXPENSES side I should add a few words:

The <strong>Swiss</strong> <strong>Club</strong> put R25.000 into <strong>the</strong> House Committee Kitty to make provisions for <strong>the</strong> still
outst<strong>and</strong>ing Municipal accounts for electricity, water etc. It was envisioned (<strong>and</strong> still is!) that
<strong>the</strong>se costs are carried by <strong>the</strong> catering department. Until this wishful thinking becomes reality,
both clubs are called upon to provide <strong>the</strong>se funds. (Some notes to <strong>the</strong> financials <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Joint
Committee at <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> this.)
Expenses in JONKERSHOEK: on <strong>the</strong> 1 st <strong>of</strong> August, <strong>the</strong> auction <strong>of</strong> Edelweiss air tickets <strong>and</strong>
some very special wines brought in a whopping R17.600. The newly formed J’hoek
Committee grabbed <strong>the</strong> occasion (<strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> money) <strong>and</strong> once started <strong>the</strong>y were unstoppable in
<strong>the</strong>ir efforts to upgrade <strong>the</strong> camping <strong>and</strong> braai facilities. The club came to <strong>the</strong> party with <strong>the</strong>
balance <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> bill, including <strong>the</strong> considerable amount that had to be spent on tree felling <strong>and</strong>
trimming, urgently necessary for security reasons. All in all, <strong>the</strong> club gave about R50.000 to
Jonkershoek this year, which is R30.000 more than <strong>the</strong> camping income.
Expenses for GENERAL ADMINISTRATION: In <strong>the</strong> past we had some income through
special events like Fondue <strong>and</strong> Metzgete nights, film shows, Christmas <strong>and</strong> Easter parties in
Jonkershoek. This income, if any, went into catering, while <strong>the</strong> expenses for <strong>the</strong>se events are
hiding in “General Expenses”. But as always, <strong>the</strong>re are also good news: The <strong>Swiss</strong> Consulate
General <strong>of</strong>fered to sponsor <strong>the</strong> “Over 70s Tea Party” this year. The mo<strong>the</strong>r club hosted <strong>and</strong>
paid for this well-loved event for <strong>the</strong> first time in 2011.

LET’S HAVE A LOOK at <strong>the</strong> finances <strong>of</strong> tomorrow
(<strong>and</strong> I include here our colleagues from <strong>the</strong> Austrian side.)
At <strong>the</strong> Austrian <strong>AGM</strong> <strong>the</strong> motion was accepted to rotate <strong>the</strong> task <strong>of</strong> Treasurer <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Joint
Committee every two years. I hope that we get <strong>the</strong> same acceptance from you, <strong>the</strong> <strong>Swiss</strong>,
tonight.
All financial documents <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> House Committee will be stored at a central place, easily
accessible to <strong>the</strong> treasurer <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Joint Committee <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> treasurers <strong>of</strong> both clubs.
An inventory will be done at <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> financial year <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> audit will be ready before
our respective <strong>AGM</strong>s <strong>the</strong> following year.
Can we agree that this year’s take-over will take place before mid-April?
Nobody can expect to build up a fortune when you have just moved into a new house. But
with generous donations last year <strong>and</strong> some more up to today, <strong>the</strong> final figures <strong>and</strong> results
look very nice indeed.

5. PRESIDENT’S REPORT ON 2006 CLUB ACTIVITIES
The president Michael Hauser presented <strong>the</strong> yearly report.
a) <strong>Social</strong> activities <strong>and</strong> Past events:
As per previous years, we’ve held all our traditional events.
In March <strong>the</strong> <strong>Swiss</strong> participated again at <strong>the</strong> annual Community Chest Carnival under <strong>the</strong>
leadership <strong>of</strong> Hedi <strong>and</strong> Ernest Buerki.

Last year <strong>the</strong> Easter Bunny arrived in style in a Lindt-Smart car at Jonkershoek. Unfortunately
<strong>the</strong> wea<strong>the</strong>r was appalling, but <strong>the</strong> 20 children <strong>and</strong> parents who were <strong>the</strong>re had a great time.
On Sunday 31 July we celebrated our National Day at <strong>the</strong> club, <strong>the</strong> wea<strong>the</strong>r was perfect <strong>and</strong>
we had over 400 guests. We erected a bedouine tent in <strong>the</strong> garden, had a large bonfire,
c<strong>and</strong>le making <strong>and</strong> our very successful raffle sale. At <strong>the</strong> last minute we received two tickets
from Edelweiss Air that we could auction <strong>of</strong>f to <strong>the</strong> highest bidder! The proceeds from <strong>the</strong>
auction were given to <strong>the</strong> Jonkershoek Committee to assist with <strong>the</strong>ir improvements.
On 1 August we organized a luncheon for <strong>the</strong> members. The members were addressed by
our Consul General <strong>and</strong> were able to listen to <strong>the</strong> speech by <strong>the</strong> President <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Swiss</strong>
Confederation.
Middle <strong>of</strong> September, <strong>the</strong> Jasser’s once again went to <strong>the</strong> Mimosa Lodge for <strong>the</strong>ir annual
Jass tournament. Fida <strong>and</strong> Bernhard had a wonderful program which included a cycling tour
to a br<strong>and</strong>y farm.
The spring brunch organised by Renate Schmocker, was a culinary delight with homemade
“Zopf” a variety <strong>of</strong> eats, bubbly whilst listening to <strong>the</strong> tunes <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Huusmusig.
During <strong>the</strong> course <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> year <strong>the</strong> Huusmusig played once a month at <strong>the</strong> club.
Martin Dannecker returned from Germany <strong>and</strong> joined us as <strong>the</strong> caterer for <strong>the</strong> club with effect
1 December.
Hans Herren <strong>and</strong> Roger Huber spent most weekends during <strong>the</strong> winter months through to
spring at Jonkershoek, working on improvements which culminated with <strong>the</strong> opening <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>
camping season on 12-13 November. A big thank you to Rene Buetzer, Hans <strong>and</strong> Roger!
During December we had <strong>the</strong> Samichlaus / Fa<strong>the</strong>r Christmas visiting at Jonkershoek, with all
<strong>the</strong> children receiving a gift from Samichlaus.
The Baenzejass Jass attracted again 24 players, thank you to Beat Reichmuth for sponsoring
<strong>the</strong> lovely Baenze!
The year finished <strong>of</strong>f with a Christmas dinner at <strong>the</strong> clubhouse, with great food <strong>and</strong>
entertainment <strong>and</strong> a welcome speech by Robert Mueller.
b) Reports from Sub-sections
Riffle <strong>Club</strong>:
We had a good year. Our appeal against <strong>the</strong> refusal to renew our fire-arm licences was
upheld <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> new licences were collected <strong>the</strong> day before Christmas Eve!
Thank you to <strong>the</strong> committee <strong>and</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r helpers, without whom our, your, club would not
operate. Most members, especially <strong>the</strong> occasional guest shooters, probably have little idea <strong>of</strong>
how much work <strong>and</strong> time is <strong>of</strong>fered up by <strong>the</strong> likes <strong>of</strong> Fridolin Lenz, our Treasurer, Statistician
<strong>and</strong> “St<strong>and</strong>blatt’ organiser, <strong>and</strong> by Thomas Henke, <strong>the</strong> Material Officer, in organising <strong>and</strong>
arranging <strong>the</strong> records <strong>and</strong> equipment, so that we ordinary mortals can enjoy our sport.
The necessary documentation regarding <strong>the</strong> change <strong>of</strong> responsible person has again been
submitted to SAPS <strong>and</strong> we are still awaiting <strong>the</strong>ir confirmation.
The ammunition <strong>and</strong> spare parts orders are in process, we are awaiting approval from <strong>the</strong>
Police <strong>and</strong> Import <strong>and</strong> Export Control.
We thank Paul <strong>and</strong> Susi Gantenbein for keeping <strong>the</strong> “Fernschiessen” going, <strong>and</strong> Marcel
Kilchenmann for liaising with Paul <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> medal designer in Switzerl<strong>and</strong>.
Shooting Activities: We held most <strong>of</strong> our shoots during 2011. On two “open days”
members used <strong>the</strong>ir private fire-arms in an informal environment. In spite <strong>of</strong> a low turn-out,
we will continue holding <strong>the</strong>m, hoping to attract new members who are not yet ready to

commit to <strong>the</strong> formal set-up, which can be daunting for a new-comer. Also, <strong>the</strong> requirements
for renewing fire-arms licences have <strong>of</strong>ficially not changed; it helps if gun-owners can prove
that <strong>the</strong>y have participated in shooting events with <strong>the</strong>ir personal fire-arms.
We brought forward <strong>the</strong> date <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Piggy-shoot this year (to April 21) because <strong>the</strong> previous
dates clashed with year-end exams <strong>and</strong> school holidays. A delightful young crowd was at <strong>the</strong>
last shoot <strong>and</strong> we hope to see more <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>m in future. Excellent results were achieved (Six
shooters achieved scores <strong>of</strong> 55 or more out <strong>of</strong> 60!). Fun was had with <strong>the</strong> firing <strong>of</strong> Thomas
Henke’s three black powder cannon!
Thirteen SRC members travelled to Natal to take part in a 3-way shoot between Natal,
Johannesburg <strong>and</strong> us.
<strong>Swiss</strong> <strong>Club</strong>: The <strong>Swiss</strong> <strong>Social</strong> & <strong>Sports</strong> <strong>Club</strong> toge<strong>the</strong>r with <strong>the</strong> Austrian <strong>Club</strong> is thanked for
<strong>the</strong> use <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir facilities. This year <strong>the</strong> air rifles were in use at <strong>the</strong> Waldfest, although it
appears that <strong>the</strong> turn-out was not great. Some <strong>of</strong> our members helped with <strong>the</strong> 1 st August
sausage braai – it was hard work!
Invitation to Natal: At <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> September <strong>the</strong>re will again be a shoot between us,
Jo’burg, Natal <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> Natal Carabinieri. The <strong>Club</strong> will sponsor members, if at least 6 will go
along, to <strong>the</strong> tenor <strong>of</strong> R1,500.00 each.
Navy, Army <strong>and</strong> Western Cape Shooting Union: Once again, thank you to <strong>the</strong> Navy <strong>and</strong>
<strong>the</strong> Admiral for allowing us to use <strong>the</strong> Klawer Range <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> club house, free <strong>of</strong> charge.
Insurance <strong>and</strong> SAGA fees: Two insurance agents are working on insurance proposals.
There is also a possibility <strong>of</strong> getting reduced SAGA ‘corporate’ rates for <strong>the</strong> regular shooters,
which will be collected through <strong>the</strong> club

Cycling <strong>Club</strong>:
We as one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> smallest subsections <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Swiss</strong> <strong>Club</strong> had a fairly quiet year again .After
<strong>the</strong> 2011 Argus tour <strong>the</strong> majority <strong>of</strong> active Cyclists went ones again in to hibernation, only
three <strong>of</strong> us carried on with a regular trainings scedule to prepare for <strong>the</strong> Double Century race
in November. The rest had <strong>the</strong> odd recreational Ride witch kept <strong>the</strong>m going as well. For most
<strong>of</strong> us <strong>the</strong> preparations for <strong>the</strong> 2012 Argus tour started in earnest in December. Three
members rode to <strong>the</strong> Waldfest. Sadly one week before our traditional ride to Kleinmond we
said good bye to Rudi Jaun, one <strong>of</strong> our long st<strong>and</strong>ing members, we all have fond memories <strong>of</strong>
<strong>the</strong> many rides we did toge<strong>the</strong>r.
The only event witch <strong>the</strong> Cycle <strong>Club</strong> had at <strong>the</strong> <strong>Club</strong>house was <strong>the</strong> Pasta evening. 80
attendees made this a huge success. The 2012 Argus Tour again had 35000 Participants
where 12 <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>m wore <strong>the</strong> <strong>Swiss</strong> Cycling <strong>Club</strong> Jersey.
The top three Riders managed to cross <strong>the</strong> Finishing line in under three <strong>and</strong> a half hours
witch meant <strong>the</strong>y came in <strong>the</strong> first 10% over all. I would like to thank all <strong>the</strong> supporters along
<strong>the</strong> route especially a very enthusiastic bunch on Boys Drive who helped to ease <strong>the</strong> pain.
Fur<strong>the</strong>rmore a big thanks to all who helped me during <strong>the</strong> past year <strong>and</strong> made it a success.

Frauentreffen:
Yet again, our annual braai in Jonkershoek took place at <strong>the</strong> beginning <strong>of</strong> March, as <strong>the</strong>
planned date in February had to be ab<strong>and</strong>oned due to bad wea<strong>the</strong>r.
Our monthly meetings end <strong>of</strong> March, April <strong>and</strong> May saw us in <strong>the</strong> <strong>Club</strong> House, enjoying <strong>the</strong>
usual c<strong>of</strong>fee, cake <strong>and</strong> chat mornings. In June, Elsi Vogelsang <strong>and</strong> Elisabeth Erne spoilt us
on <strong>the</strong>ir birthdays with a lovely lunch at <strong>the</strong> <strong>Club</strong>, <strong>and</strong> end <strong>of</strong> July we celebrated our National
Day with a delicious breakfast on beautifully decorated tables.
In September, we again enjoyed a scrumptious breakfast at <strong>the</strong> home <strong>of</strong> Jenny Siegenthaler
<strong>and</strong> October found us back at <strong>the</strong> <strong>Club</strong> House. End <strong>of</strong> November we had an excellent pre-
Christmas braai at <strong>the</strong> home <strong>of</strong> Bettina Wiesmann, which was extremely well attended.
As usual, we joined <strong>the</strong> Samichlaus in Jonkershoek with our Christmas Sale in December,
which was again a great success, <strong>and</strong> we have been able to make donations to <strong>the</strong> St.
Johannis Home for <strong>the</strong> Elderly, Sisters Incorporated, home for abused women <strong>and</strong> children,
as well as to <strong>the</strong> Tygerberg <strong>and</strong> St. Luke’s hospices.
In January 2012 we started <strong>the</strong> year <strong>of</strong>f with a pleasant Kaffeeklatsch (or c<strong>of</strong>fee morning) at
<strong>the</strong> <strong>Club</strong> House.

Jonkershoek
At <strong>the</strong> 2011 <strong>AGM</strong> it was decided that Jonkershoek will have a separate committee
with four members i.e René Bützer, Roger Huber, Hans Herren <strong>and</strong> Martin Dudler.
Our work in Jonkershoek started after Easter until Novemver 2011. 8 New braai
places <strong>and</strong> 7 concrete tables have been built. The path from <strong>the</strong> Chalet to <strong>the</strong>
Gazebo has been redone <strong>and</strong> is looking very good. The Chalet <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> Ablusion Block were
hosed down <strong>and</strong> cleaned. 5 Bar water pressure has been connected to <strong>the</strong> Ablusion
Block <strong>and</strong> a new drain pipe fitted from <strong>the</strong>re. 12 Sign posts have been put up around <strong>the</strong>
campsite, we also made 15 table clo<strong>the</strong>s. Unfortunately even after advertising on a few
occasions for members to come <strong>and</strong> assist in Jonkershoek, only a few responded, we
were forced to hire labourers, at a costs! Our drinking water has been tested <strong>and</strong> is <strong>of</strong>
a high quality! Unfortunately <strong>the</strong> water from <strong>the</strong> Municipality does not run through <strong>the</strong>ir filter
system <strong>and</strong> is <strong>the</strong>refore only good for showering, brushing <strong>of</strong> teeth <strong>and</strong> dishes.
We have been having problems with our neighbour, Peter Morkel, <strong>the</strong> one with <strong>the</strong> funny
buildings on his property. His cows <strong>and</strong> horses are grazing on our l<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> besides leaving a
mess could damage our young trees. We have reported him to Law Enforcement <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong>
Building Inspector.
On <strong>the</strong> 12 th November we had our first annual opening <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Summer Camping Season
which was well attended <strong>and</strong> a huge success. We cannot say <strong>the</strong> same for <strong>the</strong> Waldfest,
due to poor planning, <strong>the</strong> turnout was low.

3-Year Facility Management Agreement
• The Agreement between <strong>the</strong> Cities ‘<strong>Sports</strong>, Recreation & Amenities’ Department <strong>and</strong>
Joint Facilities Management Committee made up <strong>of</strong> Tamboersklo<strong>of</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Swiss</strong> Tennis
<strong>Club</strong> members (equal representation) was finally counter-signed by <strong>the</strong> City in July.
Amalgamation <strong>of</strong> Tamboersklo<strong>of</strong>- <strong>and</strong> <strong>Swiss</strong> Tennis <strong>Club</strong>s
The new name to be “Tamboersklo<strong>of</strong> <strong>Swiss</strong> Tennis <strong>Club</strong>”
New <strong>Club</strong> logo to be finalized. It is to include City <strong>of</strong> CT logo. New board to replace
current club house signage

Tennis Activities
8 to 12 members play regular social tennis on Tuesdays <strong>and</strong> less on Sundays.
There is regular coaching for individuals <strong>and</strong> pupils from <strong>the</strong> German School.
More visitors have been playing this year on a regular basis.
<strong>Social</strong> Activities
• The Tuesday evening dinner after tennis remain a regular event <strong>and</strong> is well supported.

The house committee has met repeatedly during <strong>the</strong> year. Due to <strong>the</strong> problems we had with
our Caterer Claus Goldbeck, most o<strong>the</strong>r items were left in progress. With <strong>the</strong> held <strong>of</strong> Renate
Schmocker <strong>the</strong> catering continued after Claus was asked to leave end <strong>of</strong> August.
Fortunately Martin Dannecker has returned to Cape Town <strong>and</strong> is as previously running <strong>the</strong>
catering operations assisted by Ernst Tobler. Most members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> house committee are no
longer available for re-election <strong>and</strong> have suggested that a manager is appointed to be
responsible for <strong>the</strong> running <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Green point clubhouse. He would be accountable to <strong>the</strong>
Presidents <strong>of</strong> both clubs <strong>and</strong> meet with <strong>the</strong>m monthly to report on progress <strong>and</strong> any on-going
work that is being attended to.
The finances <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> House Committe are under extreme pressure, as we still have to reimburse
<strong>the</strong> <strong>Swiss</strong> <strong>Club</strong> for <strong>the</strong> new chairs. Fur<strong>the</strong>r more <strong>the</strong> Electricity account which has
been outst<strong>and</strong>ing since <strong>the</strong> World Cup has changed from R 2.7 Millions to R 84,000 which
still seems excessive. With <strong>the</strong> currently created income from hiring out our club for outside
functions, Green Point should be able to become financially independent for <strong>the</strong> day to day
expenses incurred in <strong>the</strong> future.
Thanks to Barend, we are at last able to mount <strong>the</strong> names onto <strong>the</strong> sponsored new chairs
<strong>and</strong> hope to receive more donations <strong>of</strong> R 750.- for a new chair , or R 250.- for <strong>the</strong> reupholstery
<strong>of</strong> previously sponsored Chairs with your name carved into it. Although we have
now been running 18 months, a lot still has to be done to get <strong>the</strong> Green Point facilities to
completion. The attached list <strong>of</strong> items is still waiting to be attended to.
The financial "account" for <strong>the</strong> running <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Catering, financed by myself for <strong>the</strong> period <strong>of</strong>
September to November is attached as well.

Barend has been doing a sterling job with <strong>the</strong> newsletter. At times <strong>the</strong> newsletter was late due

We have again had a great working relationship with <strong>the</strong> Consulate. Irene Flückiger, our
Consul General <strong>and</strong> her staff are always <strong>the</strong>re for us <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Swiss</strong> Community.

Marianne Jenni our Consul has attended most committee meetings, giving us input where
necessary.
Before I close my report I would like to say a big thank you to my fellow committee members
for <strong>the</strong>ir support during <strong>the</strong> year.
As you have heard <strong>the</strong> committee will undergo some changes.
After 12 years in <strong>the</strong> committee, Stefan Rüsi decided to resign as Vice President in order to
spend more time with his family. We know, that we can still count on him should we require
his assistance! As a token <strong>of</strong> our appreciation for his contribution to <strong>the</strong> club <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> sacrifice
his family had to endure, herewith a farewell gift (play video clip) A BIG thank you to Blue
Rock for sponsoring <strong>the</strong> voucher!
Now, can I please ask Ernst Tobler to come to <strong>the</strong> front.
Ernst came in around 1980 from PE to Cape Town, from <strong>the</strong> start has was very active in <strong>the</strong>
Rifle <strong>Club</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Swiss</strong> <strong>Club</strong>, always willing to give a h<strong>and</strong> when work was to be done.
He has been <strong>Swiss</strong> <strong>Club</strong> Vice President in 1982 under Peter Muller, <strong>and</strong> President in 1983 &
1984.
Ernst was a founding member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Swiss</strong> Choir in 1983 <strong>and</strong> was President <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> choir from
1989 to 91 <strong>and</strong> again from 2006 to 2008.
Since Ernst Faessler’s retirement he organises, manages <strong>and</strong> plays in <strong>the</strong> Huusmusig with
great success.
For <strong>the</strong> last three years Ernst worked very hard to with <strong>the</strong> move from our old clubhouse to
our new home <strong>and</strong> with <strong>the</strong> redecoration <strong>of</strong> our clubhouse.
I propose to bestow <strong>the</strong> Honorary Membership to him.

I joined <strong>the</strong> committee in 1996, <strong>the</strong> following year I was elected president, <strong>and</strong> now I feel it is
time to h<strong>and</strong> over <strong>the</strong> leadership to some new h<strong>and</strong>s for some new input to bring in new
members <strong>and</strong> steer <strong>the</strong> club from strength to strength.
I will be prepared to take over <strong>the</strong> responsibility <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> public relations <strong>and</strong> sponsorship.
A special thank goes also to <strong>the</strong> partners <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> committee members for <strong>the</strong> many evenings
we spent at <strong>the</strong> club in meetings. I guess at times <strong>the</strong>y were glad that we were away

At last year’s <strong>AGM</strong> we introduced André Häberli as our new membership secretary. Andre
embraced <strong>the</strong> role with great enthusiasm <strong>and</strong> quickly streamlined his portfolio. You may have
noticed that invoices <strong>and</strong> reminders are sent out timeously <strong>and</strong> we thank you for paying your
subs promptly!
Martin Dudler resigned from <strong>the</strong> Jonkershoek committee during <strong>the</strong> year. The creation <strong>of</strong> this
sub-committee has been very beneficial for <strong>the</strong> club; as you may have noticed <strong>the</strong>
improvements <strong>the</strong>y did to Jonkershoek. All monies spent were in consultation with our
treasurer.
The house committee met monthly to ensure effective management <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> club. They had a
lot <strong>of</strong> work at <strong>the</strong>ir h<strong>and</strong>, specifically Ernst Tobler with <strong>the</strong> transition <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> catering <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> club.
For me it was a great pleasure working with <strong>the</strong> different committees <strong>and</strong> a big thank you for
Nicky Rodrigues, my right h<strong>and</strong> for making sure <strong>the</strong> meetings run smoothly!
