2nd Annual Career Forum A Success!
St. Pius X held its second annual Career Forum for juniors and
seniors on November 11. The morning program, held for the first
time for juniors, was a resounding success!
The idea behind the Career Forum is to invite alumni to speak about
their career paths and opportunities within their respective industries.
As students contemplate their college and career choices, it is
important that they receive exposure to different career possibilities
and have the opportunity to hear directly from professionals. The
Career Forum gives students some of that exposure—and from
professionals who once sat in the same classrooms as the students
do today.
On the first day of school, St. Pius X juniors and seniors were given
a list of careers and asked to rank their top four career choices. Of
22 possible career presentations, the students were given their top
two career choices to attend. The committee searched for and invited
Atlanta area SPX alumni working in those careers. A total of 40
alumni and 9 parents enthusiastically participated. There were two
half-hour sessions, with two speakers for each session.
Students were invited to come out-of-uniform for the day and dress
in professional attire suitable for most work places.
The Career Forum was the brainchild of former parent, Julie Tooher,
who modeled the St. Pius X program after the one offered at
the high school she attended. This year’s Career Forum committee
members were Judy Midgette and Kathy Florence (co-chairs),
Rebecca O’Connor, Mary McNulty, Marianne French and Molly
Lane. Input and support was provided by Vicky Dorsey ’81, Alumni
Director and Rachel Braham ’89, Dean of Students.

Networking / Speaker Series
The St. Pius X Alumni Association would like to invite all parents and friends of our school
community to connect, get inspired and network in 2010. The Faith & Work Series of evenings
will be held in the Donnellan Center at St. Pius X. Each event will begin with networking at
6:30 p.m., followed by an inspirational keynote speaker. We will follow the
speaker with a question and answer session and more opportunities to
connect.
