rustic retreat<br />
Take a cue from Mother Nature<br />
as you design this rustic retreat.<br />
We aged this birdhouse using<br />
two shades <strong>of</strong> acrylic paints<br />
and created faux fence-panel-style<br />
siding using a paint marker to<br />
make vertical stripes. We topped<br />
<strong>of</strong>f our rustic retreat with natural<br />
sheet moss and a branch<br />
turned twiggy perch.

Nestle several bird houses <strong>together</strong> to<br />
design a cheery neighborhood or<br />
even add numerals for a unique<br />
take on standard house numbers.<br />
These basic birdhouses are simply painted and glittered. They're totally a breeze to<br />
make! The metal numerals turned creative house numbers were out <strong>of</strong> metal sheeting<br />
(available in Craft Department) and then run through a crimper in two different directions<br />
to obtain the grid-style embossed effect, as pictured. Use a strong craft adhesive<br />
to secure numerals to the front <strong>of</strong> houses. Sweet, simple and fabulously fun,<br />
they're the perfect address sign for your <strong>feather</strong>y nest!

vivid hues <strong>of</strong> wood<br />
stain to craft this<br />
colorful oasis.<br />
modern mosaic<br />
From the metal ro<strong>of</strong> to the papered<br />
base, this unique residence is more<br />
like a little piece <strong>of</strong> art! Glass<br />
mosaics cover the body <strong>of</strong> the<br />
house, while the base flaunts a<br />
coordinating patterned paper.<br />
The “piece de resistance” is the<br />
stunning copper ro<strong>of</strong><br />
(actually copper sheeting<br />
available in the Craft Department),<br />
which will age to a beautiful<br />
weathered patina over time.<br />
