Yearbook 2005-2006

Principal’s Message
It is with great pleasure that we present to you the 2005-2006 edition of our school
yearbook celebrating Catholic education here at St. Michael School. This was the year
that St. Michael School became a Living School – advocating active, healthy lifestyles
for the whole St. Michael Catholic School community. As part of our Living School
commitment, we organized Quality Daily Fitness for 10 minutes a day with student
leaders in Grade 6 and 8. In 2005-2006, we also saw the full launch of our Food for
Thought program which provides nutritious recess snacks for our students two days a
week. In May, we celebrated our Living School status as we organized a Wellness Fair
with various health and wellness organizations and businesses in the Oakville area.
All in all, it was a very active and rewarding school year to say the least!
In this year’s edition, we also celebrate the many sports, extracurricular activities and
special events we are blessed to have here at St. Michael School. Without the
commitment and dedication of each and every member of the St. Michael Catholic
School community, these diverse events would not be possible. My sincere thanks to
all those who have provided these invaluable experiences and opportunities for our
students this year.
Finally, the yearbook closes with our Grade 8 graduating class and a special tribute to
the Class of 2006 in pictures and words. A special thanks to all those Grade 8 students
involved in the publication of this yearbook – artists, photographers, poets and
graphic designers – your support and dedication is very much appreciated!
We are confident that you and your family will find within the pages of this edition of
our yearbook fond memories that will touch your heart. We truly thank God for the gift
that is St. Michael School.

“A Graduation Prayer”
Dear Lord,
The graduation years - how the time flew by so fast.
Our years at St. Mikes are over but our memories will last.
We think about the future, but we can’t move forward without the past.
As we finish our final year,
We’re sad, at Grad some people might shed a tear.
As we leave our little school and enter one anew.
We’ll lose some friends and make some new.
God bond our relationships by our faith in you.
God thank you for our time together, filled with memories to make,
Classes, jokes, sports, ski trips and we can’t forget Bark Lake!
Thank you for the year, filled with happiness in this place.
It’s been hard but I hope you know sometime you were my saving grace.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you’ve got – ANYWAY!
You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God;

“A Walk to Remember”
The first time we walked through these halls with fear in our eyes and a shiver
down our spine. We walked through these halls again and again over the years,
each time we had changed in some way shape or form. Our eyes still told a
story of our emotions still fear, sometimes pride and sometimes sadness. No
matter what, our eyes always told a story. Walking down these halls, we see our
memories. And when we walk down these halls for the last time, we’ll
remember the first time with fear in our eyes and a shiver down our spine.
