Our newest constables
Squads 9 & 10 of 2009 graduated last month. It was a day of pride for our newest
members and their families.
Squads 9 & 10 take their Oath of Office.
Association President Brian Rix caught up with old
friend and retired Senior Sergeant Doug Woods at
the graduation. Doug’s son Nicholas is continuing
the family tradition, joining the Force. Nicholas
graduated with Squad 10.
Constable Chris Catania was presented with his
identification wallet by his brothers Michael and
Robert, both members. It was a group hug of
welcome for the Catania brothers.
They arrived at the Academy in May as civilians and
marched out in October as Constables.

Constable Manjot Singh was surrounded by family
and friends after his graduation.
Manjot was born in Punjab, India and is fluent in
Punjabi and Hindi. His proud wife, Olivia Dhillon and
their six week old son, Zoravar were there to see
Manjot begin this new stage in his life.
Constable Christine Di Ciero is the Squad 9 recipient
of The Police Association Fred Leslie Memorial
Award, presented to the recruit voted by his/her
peers as being the most respected member in each of
the graduating squads.
Constable Mark Willey was the Squad 10 recipient of
The Police Association Fred Leslie Memorial Award.
The award was named after Detective Sergeant Fred
Leslie in recognition of his tireless work in improving
the conditions of members.
The recruits stand with pride behind the official Victoria Police Force ‘Colours’ during their graduation ceremony.
