WOLFGANG BUTTRESS: SCULPTURE<br />

16 May to 23 June<br />

A major survey of this leading British sculptor to coincide with TOUCH:<br />

Sculpture and the Land, during which Wolfgang Buttress will also be<br />

a keynote speaker at Sculpture: Space and Place at the National Gallery<br />

of Australia. Coinciding with the exhibition will be the launch of a major<br />

public commission by the artist at the ANU College of Science.<br />

<strong>100</strong> Days of Glass continues<br />

THROUGHOUT 2013<br />

<strong>Canberra</strong> Glassworks is proud to present <strong>100</strong> Days of Glass over the<br />

course of this special year. Events include exhibitions, classes for<br />

children and adults, residencies, artist talks and demonstrations in<br />

the Hotshop.<br />

Highlights of the program include exhibitions featuring the art of<br />

indigenous artists working in glass. This includes solo exhibitions by<br />

local artists such as Lyndy Delian in July (P 46).<br />

The Ranamok Prize is a highlight of the year (P 72) and the last<br />

exhibition of the year will be titled Treasures, featuring jewellery and<br />

small exquisite works in glass by Australia’s leading artists.<br />

Every weekend visitors can try their hand at glass making by<br />

participating in the Off-the-Street program, making a paperweight or<br />

glass bauble in a one-on-one session with an artist in the Hotshop.<br />

Each month there are adult classes run to teach glass blowing and<br />

other techniques to those who have been inspired by glass and want<br />

to get more involved. The kids classes that are run every school<br />

holiday period are programmed in line with the exhibitions. Children<br />

are shown through the exhibition by an artist, then encouraged<br />

to use what they’ve learnt, or been inspired by, to create their<br />

own artwork.<br />

Every day is a day of glass at the <strong>Canberra</strong> Glassworks but in 2013<br />

they will feature <strong>100</strong> special days to celebrate the Centenary of our<br />

nation’s capital.<br />

eX de Medici complicit, a survey<br />

27 June to 11 August<br />

For many years, the work of one of the region’s most significant contemporary artists, eX de Medici,<br />

has centred on the politics of power. Her work is often shocking and confronting, yet the technical<br />

virtuosity of the work is superb.<br />

Curated by Jenny McFarlane, this exhibition brings together many of eX de Medici’s key works, and<br />

makes visible a larger continuous dialogue that has developed throughout her practice. It also includes<br />

recent work inspired by a series of visits to Iran.<br />
