Legacy Giving
Intergenerational Gardening Opportunity
Do you enjoy gardening? Consider getting involved this spring with the
intergenerational garden co-sponsored by the Roseville Area Senior
Program and the Fairview Alternative High School. This will be a learning
opportunity for FAHS students and adults to work side by side. If you
would like to get involved or have questions contact Janell Wampler,

Leave a lasting legacy by remembering the Roseville Area Senior Program in your will or estate plan.
A planned gift provides much needed funding to sustain the future of RASP’s programs, activities, and
services. Using planned bequests through a will or estate plan, revocable living trusts, real estate,
appreciated stock, IRA’s, retirement accounts, and life insurance are a meaningful way to define your
legacy. Gifts may be designated to a specific area of RASP, such as Meals on Wheels, transportation, or
service coordination activities. Memorial gifts are also welcome. For any memorial gift of $25 of more, a
memorial plaque honoring your loved one will be displayed in the RASP drop-in lounge.

Brunch for the Brain
Are you passionate about
keeping yourself mentally fit and
socially active? Studies show
that social interaction and brain
exercise can keep your mind sharp and fit your
whole life long. Brunch for the Brain meets two
times a month and includes both educational
and interactive activities. Light refreshments
will be served. If you have questions contact

Come for a fun time making note cards, memo
pads, gift tags and other items for the Roseville

supports the Roseville Area Senior Program.

Current Volunteer Opportunities:
Meals on Wheels Drivers and Food Packers
Training is provided and a one year commitment
is requested for driver and packer volunteers.
• Meals on Wheels drivers are needed to
deliver meals to 8-10 homes, weekly on
Thursdays from 11am-12:30 pm.
• Seeking substitute driver volunteers who
can deliver on an occasional basis as needed.
• Meals on Wheels food packers are needed
on selected Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s
from 9:45-10:30 am. You will be packing the
cold portion of the meal.
• Medical Appointment Driver
Provide transportation for older adults to
medical and dental appointments using your
own vehicle. We work with your availability!
Volunteer as few or as many hours as
you’d like. Training is provided and mileage
reimbursement is an option. A one-year
commitment is requested.
• Special Events
Assist with conducting designated special
events including health fair, fundraisers, etc.

Roseville Craft & Gift Shoppe
The Roseville Craft and Gift Shoppe is
sponsored by the Roseville Area Senior Program
and staffed by volunteers. This craft shop
features only hand-crafted gift items, including a
wide selection of cards, quilts, ceramics, wood
toys and decorative items, jewelry, knit and
crochet items, clothing, baby items, purses,
pottery and more.

Investment Forum I
Beginners to advanced investors are welcome.
You are invited to come and learn about the
stock market, local companies, new technologies,
medical and legal issues, and current economic
topics. Presentations, data, and discussion
provided to the group should be considered
information only. Each participant is responsible for
their own investment decisions

Bridge Class
Book 3 in the series requires a working knowledge
of bridge or of Book 1 and 2. This class deals with
the defense of a bridge hand. Since you and your
partner are on defense at least half of the time,
defense is a critical part of the game. Books 4
and 5 will continue to build on the previous books.
An American Contract Bridge League approved
text is available from the instructor to accompany
the course ($20), payable in class. Register at
the RASP office, online, or by phone. Mignon
Nearmyer, is a Bronze Life Master and an ACBL
accredited teacher of more than 15 years.

North Suburban Chorus
The North Suburban Chorus is supported by the
Roseville Area Senior Program. The Chorus does
singing engagements in the metro area. There is a
need for tenor and bass voices. Anyone who likes

Roseville Area Senior Program (RASP)
Will Establish A New Advisory Council
The purpose of this council is to advise and
assist
the Program Coordinator and Community
Education Director to plan, develop, implement,
and evaluate RASP. We are looking for community
members who live in the Roseville Area School
district and are already active at RASP, or are
interested in and/or have knowledge and skills in
older adult educational programs and services.
Members would serve a two-year term on this
council. There will be six meetings per year.

55+ Defensive Driving Class
(4 Hour Refresher Course)
Brush up on your driving skills and receive a
10% discount on your car insurance for 3 years.
No driving test required. You will receive a certificate
of completion to provide to your insurance
company. Class size limited. Prerequisite:
8 hour defensive driving course. Preregistration
at the Roseville Area Senior program is required
at least one week prior to the class date. Call

Roseville Bus Transportation Has
Openings for the Winter Schedule
RASP Bus Service has openings for riders. Contact
RASP transportation by calling 651-604-3535,
between 8am-1:30pm. See page 6 for scheduling
details for the bus.
Stitch- N- Chat
Join us with your current sewing, crocheting or
knitting project. The group also makes items for
newborns and donates those items to families in
the Roseville Area School District.

Mahjong
Mahjong is a game that originated in China and
is similar to the Western card game Rummy, but
played with tiles. Popular in the United States
since the 1920’s, Mahjong is a game of skill,
strategy, calculation and a degree of chance.

game or helping others learn.

ESSENTIAL SERVICES
Transportation

The Roseville Area Senior Program offers
transportation services to the City of Roseville
and District #623 residents, ages 60 and older,
who do not drive, and to disabled adults under
age 60 with disability certification provided.
Bus Service
Our bus provides transportation to locations
within Roseville School District #623. The bus
is lift-equipped and has spaces for wheelchairs.
Drivers are Special Transportation Certified
• Roseville Bus Transportation Schedule
The bus schedule is 8am-4pm Monday
through Friday. A cost share donation is
requested, based on ability to pay. Bus rides
available to and from Roseville Area Senior
Program activities, shopping, banking, hair
appointments, medical appointments, etc.
• Bus Ride Scheduling
Please request rides at least three business
days in advance. Call between
8AM-1:30PM, Monday through Friday.
• Bus Ride Standing Orders
Standing orders may be scheduled for rides
that take place on a consistent basis. Riders
must be picked up and dropped off at the
same locations, days, and time.
Medical Rides Available
Volunteer drivers use their own vehicles
to provide rides to medical and dental
appointments. Riders must be able to walk with
minimal assistance.

A cost share contribution is requested, based
on ability to pay.
• Medical Ride Scheduling
Call between 8AM-1:30PM, Monday-Friday.
Seven business day advance notice is
suggested for a ride request. Limit your ride
request to one ride per week.
Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels is available
Monday through Friday to adults
60 and older, and certified disabled
adults living in the Roseville Area School district
who are unable to access and/or prepare food.
An intake process and in-home assessment
is conducted as part of this service. Daily, hot
nutritiously balanced meals are prepared by
the Roseville Area Schools and delivered by
volunteers from area churches, organizations,
and the community. A suggested contribution is
requested, based on ability to pay.

Service Coordination

The Roseville Area Senior Program has a
Service Coordinator to assist older adult
residents of ISD 623 find resources, dialogue
and problem solve on health, safety, and housing
issues. Receive help navigating community
resources with the goal of living safely and independently
in your home. Home assessments
and phone consultations are available. Seniors,
family members, and caregivers are encouraged
to contact the Service Coordinator. If home
health care service is desired, the Service
Coordinator can refer clients to a variety of
resources. A suggested contribution is
requested, based on ability to pay.
Homebound Support Volunteers
After a needs assessment is completed by
the
service coordinator, trained volunteers are
available to provide services to help homebound
seniors in the Roseville Area School District.
Services include errand running, shopping
assistance, minor home repairs and friendly
visiting in the home. A suggested contribution is
requested, based on ability to pay.

Foot Care Clinic
Jeanne Polaichik, RN will do assessments, trim
nails, and teach you how to care for your feet.
During the initial visit, a comprehensive health
assessment will be done. For questions regarding

This group provides consumer information,
speakers, and good company. Anyone who has
vision loss from macular degeneration, glaucoma,
stroke or other diagnoses that impacts vision is

Program and Vision Loss Resources.

Indoor Walking At Fairview
Community Center
A walking course is established on the main floor.
4 1/2 times equals one mile. The stopping points
are the double doors on west side and the copy
center on the south side. Keep your valuables
with you or do not bring them. There is no
charge and this is a self-directed activity. Contact

A monthly educational program that provides upto-date

Caregiver Support Group
A caregiver support group is available twice per
month for caregivers of older adults. The support
group provides information, resources and
valuable emotional support. New participants are
welcome.

Health Insurance Counseling
A volunteer from the Metro Area Agency on Aging
will be available to help you understand and
track medical bills, forms, and benefits you are
entitled to under Medicare, Medical Assistance,
Medicare supplement or long term care policies.
The insurance counselor is not connected with
any insurance company and does not give legal
advice. In-home health insurance counseling
is also available to older adults in Ramsey
County who are unable to travel. Co-sponsored
by Roseville Area Senior Program, Metro Area
Agency on Aging and Lyngblomstem 5-5-1 Club

The Roseville Area Senior Program is a program of
Roseville Area Schools Community Education with
support from the North Suburban Senior Council, and
individual contributions. Additional funding is received
from Ramsey County, and Senior Services Consortium
of Ramsey County, DARTS via The Older Americans
Act administered through the Metro Area Agency on
Aging and the Minnesota Board on Aging.
